The flourescent light bulbs that fit into any socket use the least amount of energy. They cost quite a bit more than regular, but they last much longer, too.

CFL's (Compact Flourescent Lights). You get the same amount of light with lower wattage bulbs. Previous problem with them was not being able to use them with dimmer switches but Walmart now sells one that can be used. I'll wait to see the pros and cons of these since I don't use dimmers.

Floresent coil light bulbs are most expensive to purchase but save up to 75% on electricty usage.
