If I shoot an alien as it gets off a UFO is it murder, or is it more like killing an animal?

It probaly would not "legally" be murder if you were the first to do it. Laws would be passed quickly, however, if the aliens were not overtly hostile.

Ethically and morally, unless the alien had serious ill intent, yes it would be "de facto" murder.

Yes. The basic premise of your question that killing an animal is not a murder is itself wrong. Killing an animal is also a murder if you happen to be the poor creature. But the murderer aka human being doesn't consider it so simply because s/he has been conditioned by the society s/he lives to be so. Take cannibalism for example. For certain tribes it is so 'natural', while we take it as a ghastly act. So, it all depends on how you are nurtured, not diminishing the importance of nature, of course!

Good question ~ I would say, if this alien is more human form, than maybe yes it's murder in the sight of God.

Here are some videos links on UFOs ...Enjoy....

LMAO. Uhm.... Why would you kill an intelligent alien life form? Why not go up to it and start talking to it? I mean, if it was about to come kill you, it would be a good idea to kill it first. To answer your question, no one would care if you killed it, they'd be so interested in where it came from and such. It wouldn't be either killing a person or an animal.

"murder" is a legal and a moral term. There are no laws in existence to cover killing what you refer to as "alien" life forms on earth. So it could not, legally speaking, be called murder. In an ethical sense, however, it certainly would be.

Slaughter. Murder depends on how broad your view of humans is. A human is a mammal with distinct features from everyone else.

EDIT: Some of you aren't understanding the basis of life. You say "Life is a life no matter what", and I agree with you. Life is existence and survival. But you don't understand the rules and laws around it. We all have our sense of morality and that leads to defiance. So no matter how you see it, it doesn't change what it is. But, I still agree, it would be wrong to kill an alien (I dunno how I got all "meaningful" when talking about killing an alien...).

It'd be murder- because the alien is still a creature.

However, you may not go to jail for it. Because its an "alien" and as far as I know, there's no law about killing aliens, lol.

If it's not considered murder to kill an animal, or even an unborn child, then it would not be considered murder if you killed an alien.

What it is considered and what it actually is though, is a huge difference...murder is murder...

Well....I think it is ok...but i think all of the other aliens will kill you because you have hurt their kind and you are a different kind but I really don't think that it would be illigal (because of research)- but of course it is murder...because you are killing it
