Depending on your webhost, this should be really simple. If you are using a host that offers Cpanel, there is a backup feature in Cpanel. You can backup your site via Cpanel to a zip file, change hosts, then upload the entire zip file to your new host.

If your not using Cpanel simply use an FTP program to copy your entire site locally. A good FTP program is filezilla, it is free and easy to find for download via google. Simply put your URL, username and password to connect. Then create a new folder on your PC for the backup. From Filezilla (or any other FTP app) choose the files you want to backup and choose to download them. Make sure you select the new folder you just created for the files to go.

I am assuming you are having your site hosted by Godaddy or some other hosting company.

Best practice would involve having a "BackUp" and a "Production" folder.

You can keep all the files for your website on both folders. If you already have your website on the hosting server, you can connect via a FTP client (cuteFTP etc.) to dowload your entire website to the "BackUp" folder.

Every time you make changes to your website do it on the files under the "Production" folder...then upload them via FTP to the hosting server and copy the changes over to your "BackUp" folder as well.

Assuming that you do not have access to the home directory to simple copy all the files....

You can back up the files by clicking going to each page, doing a "View Source", and then saving the source code using File/Save. You would also have to click and save any pictures on your page.

Whether they pages will work correctly with your new host is another issue. As the directory structure for the new host will probably be different, any internal links may have to be recreated, including the "links" to the pictures.

it depends.

Normally, the server that is hosting your site gives ftp or frontpage or sftp access to your site.

Otherwise you can also use website copier programls like teleport or winhttrack to copy your website.
