I do that, I also check my email with my cell when away from a computer.
I have turned over in the middle of the night, unable to sleep, checked with the cell, and then sent a message to a friend, and then went to sleep.

I don't wake up early "just" to check my e mail. But If I'm up ... I usually go first to Hotmail and then to my Yahoo 360 page or AskYahoo.
