It's my understanding bail is imposed if a person is a flight risk or is a danger to the public...but there have been cases of bail being imposed for non risk defendents....doesn't this imply the judge already finds them guilty before a trial?

Doesn't say they are guilty; just that there is a risk they might not show up for trial.

The word bail as a legal term means:

Security, usually a sum of money, exchanged for the release of an arrested person as a guarantee of that person's appearance for trial.

"Justin" obviously has no clue as to what involves bonds OR government.

When one "posts" bond they are able to post one of the following:

1) property bond
2) cash bond
3) professional bond
4) signature bond

When one bonds out of jail, the bond is the surety to appear. Once the case is adjudicated the bond requirement is terminated and the cash is returned to the individual posting the bond. So...contrary to what "Justin" stated...the government makes NO money whatsoever!

It's all about the money. No one really cares if they run or not, because they can always get someone to find them if they really wanted to. It's incredibly hard to hide from anyone in the world, except maybe in India and China.
If someone is rich enough to pay the bail, they should be able to go free. I thought we treated rich people special in this country, damn it.

Bail is just a monetary means of ensuring that you'll show up for your court date. It has nothing to do with judgement.

Just another way for the U.S. Government to make money off of you and I to help pay off our Trillions of dollars of deficit that we've created mostly by giving other countries money and they don't appreciate it one bit. They usually just complain and try to attack us. For example, Iraq!!!!!!

jails are so overcrowded due to phony war on drugs, with non-violent drug offenders.
