Simply arrogance in imho.In that we regard having written & spoken (as in let's say English )Language skills. We have also developed many things to keep our lifestyles easier, have the form of making & creating things for our comfort. The ability to learn through reading. We have placed these values as highly regarded. Therefor, we think we are the most highly developed. For myself, if you look at the nature of animals that do amazing things to stay alive & create their own comfort, I can't be so quick to say we are all that adaptable & intelligent. This is more of a philophosy answer than maybe what you are looking for, in regards to science there are a lot of reasons, changing biology, the creation & forwarding of sciences & learning.

We say this because we are arrogant and have a huge ego.

I'm pretty sure my dog is more highly developed since she has all the comforts any creature could desire and not a worry in the world. She managed to make me provide this wonderful life for her so it seems like she might be smarter than I am.

If humans are so smart, why are we over-populating the world and destroying every other living thing in the process? We ever so highly intelligent beings can't seem to see that we can't continue to add 1/2 a billion people per year to the planet without catastrophe in the end.

Humans of course have a larger brain capacity and it is no secret. If you can't live with that then its too bad for you. I think people get emotional over an easy scientific question like this.
What evidence do you have over superiority of any other organism over man? Be careful before you reply to this question because I am assuming you are going to paste amazing facts about some animal but unfortunately this research has been done by MAN! Yes, its true, we are that intelligent.

We're not the most highly developed animal by no means, the most arrogant and selfish maybe, but not developed. Even crocodiles are by far more developed than we are, by a few million years i'd say. It's that old antropocentric vision of mankind that tries to teach us that we're the best and stuff, it's retarded and out of date. Indeed, mankind has developed thought and it is perhaps one of the smartest animals, but it's the same we can say about a tiger, or a polar bear, they rule their environment by being the best killers as much as we rule our by being able to manipulate it. Granted, we do a crappy job at it and we're killing our planet and not recognizing it, but at least we can say that we think ourselves the best... such fools we are eh?

Humans have a cerebral cortex that allows us the ability to reason and making us self aware. To find out more about the human brain I recommend a book by Issac Asimov simply entitled "The Human Brain". It was a pretty easy read but published several years ago.

Human arrogance. The only thing we have going for us is our ability to build things to overcome our evolutionary shortcomings. Humans have evolved certain abilities (to build) that have given us our edge to survive but other animal are far more evolved in other areas - e.g. flight in birds, speed (and muscle needed) in cheetahs, sence of smell in many animals, thick fur coats to survive harsh winters etc etc etc.

Strictly speaking ancient animals such as crocodiles are far more evolved. They have lived for millions of years and have had to adapt/evolve to many different situations where they can survive so efficiently except against human encroachment and a bullet (without the gun/bullet, spear etc humans would not win against a croc).

Humans are really quite non-evolved particularly the immune system. We are very susceptible to a multitude of diseases, most humans would die if we drank the water other animals can drink etc etc.

So, my view, since we have the ability to build things that can destroy all other (including ourselves) is why humans consider themselves more evolved

I wouldn't say we are the most highly developed of all animals.
I would say we are the most highly intelligent of all animals, and that is much more important and obvious.

Many reasons. As a member of the mammals we are more developed. We also have a very complex form of communication. Our brains are relatively large. We use tools.

With spelling like that they are obviously wrong. I've never known a rat to make a spelling mistake so they must be smarter.
