Disposable plates and cups for the little one.
Handwash pots and pans and not dishwasher safe.
Rest in the dishwasher. I run it once a week unless I run out of silverware.

Actually the answer is "it depends". Based on a number of studies done on this it may actually be more eco friendly to use a dish washer *if* it is full to the brim when you use it so this means having enough crockery and cutlery to last you until then. Also, low-energy dish washers are available which will help to reduce your power and water use. For smaller amounts then hand washing tends to be the most environmentally friendly option. Using the bear minimum amount of water and using an eco friendly detergent like Ecover will also help to make this all the more sustainable. Warm regards, Richard
