It sounds like asthma to me, also, some hypertensive medications make you cough as a side effect.

yes that's normal because once your throat gets irritated from coughing a couple times, it makes you feel like you need to cough more

It happens. If you are taking any sort of prescription medication check the side effects. My blood pressure medicine can and has caused that to happen with me. I had the dosage reduced and have been doing nicely since...

Yeah. It usually happens when I am slightly dehydrated. Dust or pollen gets in my throat and sticks to the side and tickles.

I do have choking spells from time to time, especially when I eat my daughter's cooking... but my doctor gave me choking pills. I don't know what I'd do without my choking pills.
