Are you sure it is coming from the air filter? Sounds like you are low on power steering fluid.

Are you sure its coming from the filter? If its making noises it may be a back or misfire? It does not really make sense to me that the filter makes noise when you turn the wheel. It adds a little more load to the motor but the idle speed sensor compensates for it. Check if your have a misfire, check your plugs wires you cap rotor if your car has those. Also check your timing.
Remove the filter and see if you still get the noises. If not then I would say get a new filter.

Bopping sounds from inside the K&N filter? This is probably the first signs of psychosis. Or maybe you left the radio on.

The oiled gauze air clear out isn't something new, they have been setting up them to production autos interior the Nineteen Fifties as huge-unfold . i don't be conscious of why paper factors grew to alter into so huge-unfold, besides the fact that it incredibly created a marketplace for paper filters that had to be thrown away each few thousand miles. They have been wiped sparkling in petrol and reoiled extremely easily . They do paintings extremely nicely increasing the air fee interior the induction device. the downside that i chanced on with mine exchange into that it exchange into impossible to connect the warmth air intake device to it so extra petrol exchange into wasted on short journeys with the engine taking longer to heat up.
