Legal marijuana wouldnt need taxation because the government would make so much money in taxes off of munchies (Ex. potato chips, salsa, little debbies, etc). Marijuana will end up being just like alcohol was, it will remain illegal until they can control and tax it. But could they not just tax the supplies it takes to grow it?

Marijuana became illegal in the 1930's during the depression because the American govt. was looking for a scape goat to blame all the ills of the depression on. So, in their great wisdom, they blamed the Mexicans for bringing the drug across the border and taking our jobs and bringing our society down because they supposedly brought it with them.
In 1970 Nixon signed into law the War on Drugs and here we are. It used to be legal.

Marijuana really isn't bad for you, it actually helps certain situations...I know I will get thumbs down for this but I think there is something in Marijuana that cures some kind of disease or sickness or something, and the government doesn't want us to know...Thats why cigarettes and alcohol are legal, because its actually bad for you...
Because if marijuana was that bad for you, why are you able to get a license for medical marijuana?

there are places where it is legal and it is causing tremendous problems so investigate a little.
I agree that cigarettes and Alcohol are very bad for health. People will use something so it is better to have the lesser of the evils Legal.

I believe it should be legal or the punishment should be less harsh.
Not too long ago in Michigan the punishment for possession was a minimum of 20 years in prison.

there is a lot of tax dollars going to the anti-drug and rehab industry. also marijuana can't reasonably be taxed, it can grow almost anywere (it's called Weed for a reason), and if it was legal you could grow it and not have to buy it.

this might have been a question i asked like 5 years ago when i was a little stoner however,
actually cigarettes and alcohol are illegal until you are 18 or 21. and cigarettes don't impair your judgement. alcohol well i have no answer for that people are stupid and are gonna drink and smoke themselves retarded. Marijuana is stupid, fun but stupid. also the government is making BILLIONS off of people getting busted with it, with fines jail time, court costs, drug an alcohol classes.
Why would they leagalize it when they are making tons of cash??
lol

It should be made legal it is stupid that it's not especially when cigarettes and alcohol kill more people than all the other drugs combined yet they're legal.

because our governtment is grossly incompatant. cigarettes kill about 420,000 americans per year. alcohol kills roughly 140,000 per year. marijuana has never directly killed anyone. sadly, our government refuses to see the medical benefits of marijuana, and no one in congress has the balls to speak out in favor of it being legalized. legalizing marijuana would create jobs and revenue, but sadly it remians illegal.
