Ok i just asked a question about 10 minutes ago, the title was```DO WOMEN WATCH PORN``` you can read yourself, and 100% of the women said they do. I asked that question to test the theory of hypocricy. My question is why is it degrading to women ? and what makes you think that it is not degrading to men ? to potray them as sex obsessed being ? Why the double standard when it comes to men who watched porn ? I mean when a men watches it, its said that he is a pervert or a person who thinks of women as sex object. And when a women watches it its because she has sexual interest too or its her right,, and i dont get another thing, by calling porn a degrade to women you are actually degrading your own gender, think about it, this women are actually doing what they have to, to survive, even prostitute do that to survive, i respect them because they do it to support themselves or their kids, now whats wrong with that ? Men or i atleast dont think that as degrading

Because when people watch porn, they don't look at that womans feelings and wants and desires. They look at her as an object to be used for their satisfaction. Their is no human concern for them. It is rather animalistic. It is a means to and end. Ted Bundy said this is what helped him view woman as objects but I don't feel porn was the only problem he had.

Pron does not degrade women - and I am a woman. When a woman decides to make a career in porn, she is making an informed choice. We know what it is and how it works. Women who are insecure in their sexuality try to use this argument in an attempt to get other women out of the industry, so that their men won't have other women to look at, or think about. The theory goes like this...if no women ever did porn, then my man wouldn't have anything to look at but...dudes doing it. The ONLY time it is degrading is if the woman doesn't negotiate as well as the guys. and makes less money than they do. The recipient of the fluids should always be paid more then the distributor of the fluids. To them I say - get a better agent. You have pointed out the fly in the lube - if it's degrading, then it's degrading...to men, women, hermaphrodites, and animals. Funny how women forget that:)

I don't watch it, I think it degrades both men and women, and unfortunately, for some people who have poor social skills or lack intelligence, they can think that porn is reality, and can act on what they've seen. Worse, some porn is child porn, and has been shown to children to "prove" that child rape is "normal". On the other hand, not all porn is violent, but from the titles and descriptions of these movies, it displays unrealistic scenerios that negatively influence men and women's view of sex.

I use to be active in the anti-pornography movement, but disagreed with censorship. I think education is the key; educate boys and girls so they know what healthy sex is (instead of just saying don't do it!). Often women (as well as men) in porn and prostitution have been sexually abused and/or have been runaways and have a very poor education. I think the more education we can give children about their choices when they are being abused, the less boys and girls, and later, men and women we will have on the streets. In the past, the only choice you had was to suffer through it or run away if you were being sexually molested; no one wanted to hear about a family member or family acquaintance "messing with you". Of course, there will always be men and women who will sell their body and soul for cold hard cash, but if more children and young adults were listened to, taken seriously, and educated about sex, the more children and adults we can save from a life of degradation.

"What do prostitutes & dog's walking on their hind legs have in common?

-No matter how wrong it is, you just keep justifying why it's okay"

This goes for females and males in any of the role-playing! It sounds like no matter what type of logic you're hell bound to find a justification for what you want to do.

Yes, women solicit women. Yes it's wrong. Yes it's wrong when women "Objectify" by watching porno to satisfy selfish desires. Most women objectify men through story lines (Soap Opera's Romance Novels) which has the same "objectification" result leading to a woman being selfish.

In regards to pornography, it's a lie. Men are visually stimulated, and this is why more men buy porno; homosexuals are the biggest consumers of Play Girl (naked men) because their need visual stimulation. The "Stars" of porno talk about how difficult it is to produce since it requires faking positions, and re-do's in front of 100 people. Then the director does the cut's, pastes, shadow's to complete this visual lie that you're buying into.

Now the influence it has can be different to different people. As some people can drink a beer and continue the evening normally; another person may have a beer which sends them into a binge drinking phenomena. So is beer bad? The one who can stop at one ... no so bad ... but to the one who has a problem with self-control it's a big problem. Pornography has the same influence on men as alcohol. Some get addicted while others want the real thing instead of a fantasy.

You do have a very good point. It is double standards, like you say, that women see it as degrading to women but don't actually think of how it portrays men.
I think the main problem some people have are the circumstances in which some women get into porn. Traci Lords for example was only 14 when she made her first film. Clearly a case of producers just using anyone who comes along without at least trying to find out either their age or their reasons for doing it.
Also, a LOT of porn producers are men....not all admittedly, and most of the films are biased to men sometimes being pretty dominant and rough....Rocco Siffredi's films for example. That said, some women like it like that.
I don't think it'll ever be totally accepted. As long as the people who either star in it or watch it are adults and have consented then I personally don't see any problem with it.
If it helps spice up someone's sex life then even better.

It is an interesting point you make, but taken from the viewpoint of each to their own, and we are all adults here, what harm can it be doing??
The problem with porn is, that it is taking love out of the equation. Therefore making sex a function, rather than an expression of love.
Like you say, women are doing prostitution and porn to survive, they might as well be cleaning dishes, for that; albeit porn is better paid.

It's a choice people make, I don't really care what people do, once it's voluntary and people know what they are getting from it.

Porn can be wrong, when a woman is forced to do something she does not want too, and really sex should be enjoyed, not a chore, where you have to wonder about whether your make up is looking good.

It can also portray women and the availability of sex as easy. Therefore promoting a distorted view of society, and how it really is.

Sex should be about love, and while porn can offer titillation, it should never be seen as normal practise, or promoted as such

Those that think it is degrading to women wouldn't watch it and perhaps think it is degrading to men too. So I dont think thats a double standard. Just a difference of opionion. I would only think it were degrading if the woman were forced to do it but I dont think that happens unless its by some weird underground sicko. Other than than I cant see the harm. We watch films with people being being blown up or murdered. I think thats far worse than watching sex.

It's problematic as 'degradation is in the eye of the beholder' -generally.

I've known Christians who proclaim themselves as such and by their behaviour and word serve to degrade other Christians.

There are women who claim that the behaviour of men degrades women - while ignoring that their very words are tarring all men with the same brush - and in so doing are degrading (potentially) all men.

If you set out to degrade some one, or some section of society, you are generally showing yourself for what you are and not necessarily what 'you believe' the other person to be.

My girlfriend watches porn - just have few of those in my past relationship. My girlfriend loves it and relates to much of the emotions expressed inn what she sees.

I don't think or feel that she is 'degrading herself,' I believe that she is honestly expressing what she feels as a human being, and as such is far, far richer than many by having the breadth of emotional connections to the world as a whole.

Sash.

As I've said before, I like porn just fine in occasional doses. The key is to not let it take over your life.

As for whether or not it's selfish or objectifies women- well, yeah, it does. But it's fantasy. All fantasy is selfish and one dimensional. After all, who dreams of _someone_else_ winning a million dollars?

Really it's not much different from imagining striking out Barry Bonds in the last game of the World Series. You're not thinking of Barry Bonds' feelings or emotions in that situation; he's just there as an obstacle. It's a moment of indulging in the idea that you're the winner, the stud, the superstar, and everyone else is there to serve you. But that's all it is. Mature people don't actually start believing it.
