If the Yankees where a great team on the pitching aspect, they wouldn't have to rely on Roger Clemens to come out of semi-retirement in hopes to shore up a troubled starting rotation.
They have a dangerous offense, and some of their pitchers are starting to get healthy, but I think they still have a long way to go to catch the Red Sox, especially when it's gotten to the point where some Yankee fans here are relying on a Red Sox "annual August swoon" to help the Yankees measure closer to them in the standings.
However it's still June, just over half a season to go, and the Yankees aren't out of the wildcard, and they STILL have a shot at the division. I don't like their chances this year in the AL east but we'll see what happens.

I think if they get starting pitchers back along with Roger Clemens, they can. If their offense gets hot, they could look for division or wild card. Even if they go up .500, unless Red Sox goes down, Yankees may not get the division but still make the playoff as wild card. We just have to see how Yankees will do against Red Sox next game. Yankees already won 2 of 3 in Boston last time.

The Yanks are 6.5 games behind Detroit for the wild card and 10.5 behind the Sox.
The Yankees can work their way out of this. First, they have to get back to .500, then chase down the Wild Card. The key is getting to the playoffs, then they can look to the Red Sox and try to run them down to get an easier match up in the ALDS. Still, first priority is getting to the playoffs to keep the Series dream alive.
The Yanks are too good not to make it to the playoffs. They do need to get a nice long win streak going though. The series against the Pirates is coming up, with Pettite and Clemens pitching back to back and Yanks riding a 3 game win streak. The season is far from over.

Didn't they win 10-3 yesterday. How about a team with a payroll less than Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter (the Yankees two biggest diva's) pulling it out and showing they never give up and beating the Yankees in the playoffs. Oh wait that happens every year, life is beautiful.

The White Sox have lost 10 of 12, and average less than 2 runs and 6 hits a game. They are pathetic this year! So don't use the Sox as a benchmark to gauge the progress of the Yankees.

Yes, they can. That was a great game last night. I know we can continue to play well. It's still a little early and a lot can happen. As I always say never count the Yankees out. True they have a lot of work ahead of them, but I have every confidence that they will get it done. I wish my Yankees the best of luck.

I'll have to say I hope not, definitely not a Yankees fan. Though they turned their season around last year after a slow start. So I think there's still hope. And I must say, I NEVER count the Yankees out.

A "Great" team, are you kidding me. With the pitching staff that they have. Even with Roger coming in, they are not a great team. Roger is over the hill by about 5 years. There is no way that this Yankees team is a great. You know the saying: "Never Say Never." RIght now, I am telling you that they will Never come back. Especially with the line up or the over the hill pitching staff they have.

Yes they can...but the real question is will they? They definitely have the talent...although they could use some work on the pitching side. Only time will tell if they will actually put a run together...as a Red Sox fan I hope they don't but they definitely can.
