no she married a Japanese man in JAPAN...the visa is a Japanese visa.

yes I have heard it is possible for them to divorce you without you knowing.....there is a something you can sign to say that you don`t agree to divorce and they can`t divorce you. Too late for that now unfortunately.

Hmmm.....not sure what will happen to your visa now. If you marry immediately I think you can stay, otherwise I think you have to go home.

ok just found some info in a book called Living with the Japanese law A Guide to Foreign Nationals in Japan. I
It says : you can stay in Japan until your divorce is finalised. Unless you are able to change your status of residence (in your case changing from Spouse Visa to another kind of visa), you will not be able to stay in Japan after getting divorced.

it says that you lose your status of residence....but in fact even if you stay in Japan for the remainder of your period of residence, it is unlikely you will be expelled from the country for overstaying.
It goes on to say that you must leave then unless you change your visa. If the divorce takes time you can apply for an extension in order to attend divorce proceedings.

So you can stay out the rest of your spouse visa....but after that it gets tricky.
I couldn`t find anything about remarriage to another Japanese.....but the marriage itself I think would be easy.

It does say that you can marry even if you have overstayed, but that you must prove that the marriage is guenuine and not just to stay in Japan.

This is the real problem I think, you need to really prepare your documents for the new spouse visa....together with your new husband.
