From yahoo news regarding the immigration bill not passing:

The split in the Republican Party was more obvious. The issue pitted social conservatives, who insisted that illegal immigrants not be granted "amnesty" for entering the country unlawfully, against business groups hungry for willing workers in hotels, restaurants, construction sites and other comparatively low-wage, low-skilled workplaces.

Talk about hypocrisy!

I think this shows that the Republican Party are not a bunch of sheep following the same tired opinions. It is a dynamic party with room for differing views and opinions.

Why not just admit they they prefer to control the lives of everyone for their own good .
That wages are backwards engineered to create a society that must struggle to get by .
Does a worker make 9 dollars an hour because thats what wage they actually earn or because thats the wage that they can get workers for .
Since wages have nothing to do with profits .
Companies do offer profit sharing and stock options where if you have any money left over you can invest in the business or be given a share of those profits .

So having people that you do not even have to contribute to social security for can be a big savings along with wages below the minimum wage .

I'll admit that both parties want illegals. This bill won't change anything unless they REALLY close the border. Our laws haven't been enforced for nearly 50 years. This is a problem for both sides. Most Americans are against amnesty but the politicians look at money and votes. Don't point the finger...we all have a problem with it

I see no hypocrisy in a difference of opinion among Republicans. Quite the contrary. I think you would find it illuminating to read the op-ed column by Peggy Noonan, President Reagan's chief speechwriter, entitled, "Too Bad," on the last page of the last section of last weekend's Wall Street Journal. See link below in Source box.

In it, she breaks not only with the current Bush 43 administration but also with the Bush 41 administration and effectively with the editorial position of long standing of the Journal itself.

Mary McCarthy and Lillian Hellman were literary rivals and feuded for years. Ms. McCarthy once said about Ms. Hellman on the Dick Cavett show that "Every word she writes is a lie, including 'and' and 'the'."

My reaction to Ms. Noonan's column mentioned above was that "Every word she writes is the truth, including 'and' and 'the'."

You're not completely wrong, which is why the Republican party may be about to split apart, there are some who support them, but the vast majority of republican voters oppose amnesty etc. Don't confuse the politicians with the voters, the party itself has never before gotten it this wrong in relation to the views of their constituents,I really don't see how they screwed it up this bad. But that's fine, all of the true conservatives will perhaps someday make fine Libertarians.

A refreshingly first rate BNP supporter! Yea, i will completely sympathise with the guy circumstances and that i cant stand the ignorant morons who say 'line them up against a wall and shoot them' or something the two as moronic. we ought to locate the folk on the nicely suited of those gangs who're ususally from bangladesh or someplace and are nicely ordinary interior the united kingdom. Its not in basic terms approximately struggling with each and every of the immigrants getting over here yet sorting out that a lot of human beings already indexed here are assisting them.

Republican Senators also favor the granting of millions of temporary worker permits. This is just another way to provide a permanent underclass of poorly paid workers for the benefit of US businesses.

Unfortunatly there are two types of Republicans. The blue bloods and real Republicans. Some rich Republicans are only Repubicans because they don't want to loose the perks. It seems like more and more of them get leadership positions. It is sad for us.

Perhaps some do.
I find it interesting Democrats want to give special privileges to illegal aliens, such as in state tuition, work less quarters in order to qualify for social security, and not prosecute any crime committed by illegals.
It is like they will get more rights the American Citizens.
