Yes, it consists of eight planets (sorry, Pluto) an asteroid belt and an area of matter called an Oort cloud outside the outermost planet; the Oort cloud is where comets hang out.
In order from closest to farthest from the sun, the planets are:
Mercury
Venus
Earth
Mars
(between Mars and Jupiter is the asteroid belt)
Jupiter
Saturn
Uranus (stop snickering!)
Neptune
(once again, sorry Pluto...you don't make the grade) :(

Yes I do. I could give a fact or two about each planet, and the 2 asteroid belts of our solar system, but that's a lot to type. I'm sure you can find out plenty of info by looking up 'solar system' on wikipedia.

yes i do
there are 8 planets that revolve around one star that we call the Sun. our solar system revolves around a giant mass of spinning nebulas, stars, and other solar systems and rocks. we call this a galaxy. our solar system has 4 rock planets, and 4 gas planets. many asteroids revolve in the area between Mars and jupiter and another asteroid belt is beyong pluto. when the solar system was young there were possibly 15 more rock planets but their orbits would lead them to collide with eachother and these remains from the planets could bethe asteroids in the asteroid belt. the Earth was hit by another planet but because the earth is such a massive planet compared to the other rock planets, the other planet blew up and the earth was gashed. the remains of these two planets floated around in an orbit around Earth. Earth at one time had a ring. this ring condensed over time and became the Moon. then came the bombardment period where comets and asteroids would simplay bombard the Earth. Luckly the moon absorbed many of these asteroids. as far as we know, we are the only life form living in the solar system.
is there anything else you want to know?
