Have I sprained something?
I started swim team on monday and ever sience my ankle muscles on my right ankle have been a bit sore. yesterday though I got off of the school bus and when I stepped on the ground a sharp shooting pain went radiated through my ankle and I couldnt walk for a minute than after about a minute I could gradually limp back along to my house. I used crutches that I had at my house for about 15 minutes and than I sta down. at swim team yesterday Every time I went to kick My ankle hurt and than I got a cramp in my foot which has never happened before. Today my ankle still hurts when I move it up and down, when I move my toes up and down, and when I push on the ankle on the soft part. as soon as I felt the pain My ankle swelled up and the entire ankle turned bright red within like 30 seconds. What is puzzling is I dont remember twisting my ankle. It also hurts when I run,or walk but I can sort of walk with pain and run barely with alot of pain.

It sounds like you sprained your ankle after stepping out of the school bus. I'd get it checked out by your nearest podiatrist. Always get a x-ray to be sure nothing is broken and then you'll likely get a walking boot, compressive ankle wrap, and maybe some pain meds like stronger Advil/Aleve. Then in about 2-3 weeks you'll feel a lot better and then doctor should send you to physical therapy so you can get back to swim shape.

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.

So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.

Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.

A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.

Heal your ankle fully & fast?

if you did not have a specific incident where you struck your foot on something, then it is unlikely that you have a fracture.

there are a few more than 200 bones in the human body, and most of them are in your hands and feet. hands and feet are very complex---ligaments and tendons and cartelege and all kinds of complicated stuff. Injuries can happen soon, suddenly, unexpectedly, and in ways that even medical professionals cannot figure out.

would recommend not running for awhile, limp around---and don't be afraid to swim a lot. If you are still in pain a week from now, get to a doctor.

if it hurts when you run, STOP DOING THAT.

If you've been like this for 2 days, and your ankle is bright red and swollen you've definately sprained it or perhaps you could have a hairline fracture somewhere in your foot, may not be right at the ankle* I would be going to get it checked out at the doctors, (if your ankle is swollen and bright red*-doesn't sound good. WHy the bright Red?? go get it checked out, best to be safe than sorry * Best wishes*

If it hurts really bad and it hurts really bad to walk I would wrap it in a bandage like thing and use the crutches and if it still hurts in a week then i would go to the doctor

Sounds like a sprain. I would put cold towel or ice pack on it ( wrapped in cloth do not put on skin directly) and rest as much as possible, if still bad in a few days, go to doctors. Good luck

Ace bandages are your friend. Seriously. Your ankle shouldn't hurt when you move it. Get it checked.
