In life nothing is essential but still we do it, whether getting married, giving birth to children & even moving away from our spouses all these things we indulge in whether legally or illegally. But as rightly assessed by Olesya
'There are certain legal and tax benefits that marriage provides, as well as the risks.'
This is true for every one & in every country of the world. The legal status of being a spouse, begetting legitimate children, availing inheritance rights, insurance benefits, etc are such issues which we all face sometime of our life. I have always insisted on the legal paper work that gives anyone legal rights & recognition world wide. For example let me give an example say two living in partner (without legal marriage) want to avail the legal spouse rights to immigrate to any country where such living in relationship is NOT recognized but only legally married spouse are given permission to immigrate & work then what they will do in such a case? So you see even if you don't want to get legally married still one time of your life you may face such a situation where you yourself will think "Why I Did Not Marry ?"

NO! If more people respected marriage and they got married for only one reason, which is LOVE, then this world would be a better place.
So many people get married, for money, or because their pregnant, or for place to live, or because they think their in love and then they get a divorce. Those children are growing up now doing the same thing, because that's how they were raised.
Today's society is ruining the meaning of marriage. They treat getting a divorce like breaking up in high school.
MARRIAGE IS A COMMITMENT THAT WHEN TWO PEOPLE LOVE EACH OTHER AND WANT TO SPEND THE REST OF THEIR LIVES TOGETHER, TILL DEATH DO THEM PART!
Not because it's essential.

Yes, a good marriage and having a good family is essential. It might not seem too important when you are younger but as you age, it becomes more and more important. It gives you the emotional stability that is essential in life. It balances out your thoughts and your way of living against other people. It helps you get a perspective in life and it also helps you have hope and things to live for.
This might be a traditional view but it's the reality.
Good luck.

No nothing is essential beyond the things needed to stay alive, and not getting married is not going to kill you. I've been close to marriage before, but I don't think I will ever actually get married, there's just nothing in it that I want.

It all depends on the people who are getting married.
Some are very religious and believe that they have to be married in order to continue their relationship, its the next step...... Thats what they believe in and grew up with.
Got to respect it.
Others its not essential cos their believes might be completely different and might see it as just being a piece of paper and i way to spend alot of money.

No, I'm happily single and 30. Just met a nice guy and were both happy just being together. The commitment is there, just not on a piece of paper.
I know of too many people who are divorced or going through one. Not worth the hassel unless your sure. Everyone changes over the years and decides they want something different or there not compatiable.

Not in this day of age...just get engaged and live together. Only marry if you want to...it is only a bit of paper...it won't affect your love.

There are certain legal and tax benefits that marriage provides, as well as the risks. Personally I believe that legalized marriage provides the kind of stability that common law marriage doesn't.
