In the house I'm in, theres an alarm which looks about 10 years old, when I arm it it makes a continuous loud high pitched tone for about 20 seconds which disturbes neighbors. Does anyone know how to arm it then silence the tone? The alarm doesn't have any brand name on it but it has a black number panel in the top right corner of the front panel and the model number '9448' printed on it.

There is usually a 4 digit code you neewd to punch in. Try the 9448 and hit, if you have it, off or disarm. Disarm I think is totaly off. If nothing else call the alarm company.

Call any electrician if you do not have the info on the original installation company. Your service may also be able to help you.
