Fox had a TV show claiming the Moon landing was faked. There are shows that refute this silly Fox one. Many people form opinions prematurely...and some love conspiracy theories more than the truth. If I see such a thing on TV or in books or magazines, I check alternative opinions about it. I see no good reason to doubt that Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk upon the Moon 7/20/69. Buzz Aldrin soon joined him and was the first man to wear a watch upon the Moon. I put that in one book I wrote about watches. I do not say he did not really walk upon the Moon, for I am certain he did.

I believe that we did go. The one person who I've met who didn't think so, also hated the government (and not just Bush, but all of the government) and I think that had a huge influence on his decision making.
I've yet to see any 'evidence' that we didn't go. IMO it's the conspiracy theorists who have to present credible evidence to disprove that we went to the moon. I'm just wondering what they'll say when another country (or the US) returns to the moon and indeed does find the previous landing sites of the Apollo missions.

It's a shame. I know. Such a marvelous achievement devalued by a couple of conspiracy nuts who make a cheap movie, and then the army of bored, greedy followers who figure they can make a buck off of this claim as well. And then you have 8th grade teachers passing the nonsense on to their students. Mr. A, If that teacher is still in the classroom, I wish I knew where so I could complain. It really irks me to hear of teachers who use their influence so frivilously and irresponsibly.
And yes, Jason, that flag thing just won't go away, will it? So many people still claim it despite the fact that no video shows it. And all the still shots of the flag show the same wrinkles. Duh, people.
It's not just stupidity or gullibility. And it certainly isn't just Americans. Whether it's this or UFOs or psychic phenomena or ghosts, people just love to get all breathless with their own amazement. Or indignation. We live in a time when it's not vogue to say, "No, you're wrong," or "There's no such thing." That's seen as intellectual oppression and a violation of everybody's right to believe in whatever bunk they choose. Sure, believe what you want, but more people should have the guts to stand up and combat loud idiots so maybe they'll see the need to find out about something before they disseminate sensationalist misinformation to the public.

Well, for starters I think Gallup should stop polling 13 year olds at the mall.
Someone is eventually going to get to the moon and if the American Flag, the legs of the lunar lander and footprints are not found America is going to have a honesty crisis with the world.
In view of the fact China, India and others have space programs and China could be on the moon in the next 10 years and Russia is capable of it now, any fraud would be discovered and America would be unable to explain that.
It would also give the religious right justification to remove science from the school system, starting with Evolution.
If America is not honest about space science, how can it be honest about dinosaurs.
You'd have a huge credibility issue to contend with.

We generally get to find the name of place where we land at the airport.
Incidentally in case of spaceships its different. They dont get place to land on any airport when they are out of the planet. So they dont get to read the name of the place.
Thats the reason its always a confusion whether its venus, moon , saturn, uranus or pluto.
Well its for sure they dont land on sun coz its always very hot over there and why will people go for terrestrial vacations on a hottest place while leaving the cooool places ??
Think Think !!

I know we landed on the moon. For one, the apollo missions had the orbiter, the lunar module, and the launch vehicle that would get the module from the lunar surface back to the orbiter.
When the astronauts returned to earth, they were minus the launch vehicle, the buggy, and a few golfballs.
Upon returning to Earth, the astronaut's transferred some rocks from the lunar surface to NASA scientists to study.
What more proof do they need?

I think that most people who don't believe it haven't actually looked at the record. Apollo is one of the most heavily documented human achievements in the whole of history. The trouble is there's a bit of technical know-how needed to understand that. Most of those who believe it was all faked haven't even bothered doing the research into the record. Unfortunately it seems that the most ignorant people are also the loudest.
One of the answers here illustrates what I mean about drawing conclusions before even checking the record properly. The flag does NOT wave, it is held out by a rod across the top precisely because it WON'T wave in a vacuum on the lunar surface! How hard is that to imagine? How difficult is it to look at the pictures and actually SEE the rod? How hard is it to look at the film and video and see that it only moves when as astronaut moves it? And yet many people insist the flag is waving! Beggars belief.

They lifted off and went into orbit around the Earth, but never went as far as the moon! And your correct they have yet to provide proof that anyone actually went to the moon. This proof has to be from some other source than the US government or nasa! When over a quarter of the populace believes otherwise then you really need to question what has happened!

Well, those guys are probably all too young to have watched it on TV. I did, and I still remember the show. It was pretty cool.
As for proof being a requirement, hmm... there is no proof of God, yet more than 90% of Americans believe in God. The selective skepticism clearly makes no sense.

There are three main reasons why 27% of US-Americans believe that the moon landings were faked:
- 1 - It's an indicator of some lack of good education in USA
- 2 - The authors and news media can make money with stupid news, because supid people like stupid news.
- 3 - Too many US-Americans use TV as their only source of "education" once thy left school.
