I found a wifi signal in my yard and I want to know if " whoever " can tell if I'm using it.

depends. Most servers use some sort of WEP, WPA or WPA2, the latter being the most secure. But a lot of small companies, colleges, etc. simply use unencrypted connections. Basically if you can use it, your computer will be able to connect. If not, it's encrypted.

Well, unless they check their router logs then you should be fine.

Just don't take the piss and max out their download limits either, will get you caught out.

I can't condone it though as it IS illegal though so bear that in mind.

If it's not encrypted, you can use it,
but, even if a frontdoor is open, your still a burglar when you enter without permission..
You can use it surf the web, but download it,

Sure, here around me there are 15 unprotected networks,
if I didn,t have my own, I would use one of those.
