I've understood the lyrics but I don't know what we wants to come, what he means exactly by those words. I know that the singer did philosophical studies, and I feel exceeded:

Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm
"God shuffled his feet [#3]"

Once there was this kid who
Got into an accident and couldn't come to school
But when he finally came back
His hair had turned from black into bright white
He said that it was from when
The car had smashed so hard

Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm

Once there was this girl who
Wouldn't go and change with the girls in the change room
But when they finally made her
They saw birthmarks all over her body
She couldn't quite explain it
They'd always just been there

Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm

But both girl and boy were glad
'Cause one kid had it worse than that

'Cause then there was this boy whose
Parents made him come directly home right after school
And when they went to their church
They shook and lurched all over the church floor
He couldn't quite explain it

First, let me finish your lyrics, kinds important:

(He couldn't quite explain it...)
They'd always just gone there

Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm
Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm

Now, I'll combine my answer with another I found in a forum:

The boy is hit so hard by the car that it changes his hair from black to bright white, and the birthmark girl.

Basically the drastic hair change shows how his life has in an instant been drastically changed perhaps forever without any voluntary input from him. The girl is ashamed of her birthmarks which have happened by some random chance of genetics. She has the ability to cover them and no one will know unless she is forced to reveal them in a shower room (this also shows the inhumanity of a society which forces the girl to reveal her hidden defect).

She and The white haired boy might be temporarily mocked but they know they had no control over the visual defect which afflicts them (and they turn out ok)and they always can go to their parents who will love them no matter what they look like.

Finally the white haired boy and the girl with birthmarks realize that life is not that bad for them when they compare it to the boy whose parents shake and lurch all over the church floor. This poor boy is at the whim and control of his weak willed parents who are smitten with religious fervor. Not only cant he lead a normal life after school like the other kids, They control every thing this kid does that does not comply with their weird religion. Whats worse is they embarrass him by making him go to this church and watching them shake and lurch and perhaps making him perform the shaking and lurching as well against his will. The ultimate question this song bring out is, what is worse: being involuntarily mutilated or being ruined willfully and purposely for life by your own parents.

Most people have a hard time, as this poster did regarding the last part, which I'd like to explain further:
A child goes to type of church of which we shall assume Pentecostal. Pentecostal takes the literal meanings out of the bible regarding the day of Pentecost, which is, when people speak in tongues, shake, and appear drunk. )There may be people that wish to argue over this, however, I'm just trying to get to the point without writing a novel.) The speaking in tongues is the holy spirit entering the disciples and speaking the languages of other nations. Personally,. I have seen this first hand when a doctor was delivering a baby and his from an African nation and stopped cold from his duties and talked to the praying expecting mother, it was fascinating. Any way, also biblically, the child is one that needs to be taught the ways of the church and WILL be rebellious but to not be discouraged and still teach them the way. Thus to the child, instead of just standing there and absorbing what is going on, he is doing what he thinks will please the parents and just going through the motions with the "power of the holy spirit". Because of this, the boy deep down is embarrased and ashamed of what he does. He is afraid of being exposed to the public and his peers for he has gained nothing yet from the church, the churches community, and the "Holy Spirit". So compared to the other two kids, because he has to "live a lie" and THAT is why he has it worse than the other two kids. The physical markings on them that makes them "different" are unchangable and therefore, have to be lived with (until they are older and see a dermatologist with lazer correction and hair dyes/shaves head for the boy) But the boy does not choose to accept what he is a part of because he doesnt understand why, thus leaving him in confusion and undefinement (is that a word? LOL) His will come with maturity while the other two are all set, or will be once they come to accept it and the teasers/shock wears off from the others or they adjust. I think its all about a matter of being "comfortable in your own skin". While some can, others feel they can't, others have no choice but to.

O.K. Sorry about the novel! LOL

It is essentially about various individuals enduring bad situations. Either way, each verse is unrelated in a direct sense, but it was a catchy tune by a one-hit wonder. Weird Al paid tribute to this song with the hilarious "Headline News." If you were a teenager or older in the 90s, or just a trivia buff, it spoofs strange headlines such as the Nancy Kerigan/Tonya Harding fiasco, the Michael Faye caning in Singapore, etc. It's actually better than the song it spoofs.

I think this is a great song. It probably means that there is always someone worse off than the last person.

I've always thought that the title 'God Shuffled His Feet' had to do with His shame at how many of His 'flock' suffer here on earth and in His name.

But I dunno - maybe someone has a better interpretation...?

The first two kids are victims of circumstance and the third is a victim of religious zealot parents. The song is a commentary on the perils of organized religion.

It means that everyone has they're uncontrollable faults and can't do anything about them. But there are still people that make fun of these physical/emotional scars and exploit them to make themselves feel better.
