The terms are often used interchangeably. A wireless router is a wifi device. Waves emitted are at 2.4 Gig Hz (802.11b,g,n) or 5.8 (802.11a) thus they are microwave radio waves.

Both 2.4 and 5.8 are used for many wireless devices, cordless phones etc.
