When I was 24 I was taken into hospital clinically dead as the result of an ectopic pregnancy. I actually seemed to be floating above my body as the doctors and nurses worked on me. I also floated above my home and saw my little boy (then nearly five) sitting and reading with my neighbour who had come over to stay with him while my husband came to the hospital with me. (I did not know this at the time - it was later confirmed by both my son and my neighbour)
And then it seemed that I was being carried along by and through a tunnel of light and although I cannot say I heard a voice speaking to me I was apparently given a choice of whether to continue along the tunnel of light or return to the life I knew. Because of my little boy I chose to come back to this life.
When I awoke in the hospital the doctor told me that I had been dead for five minutes but that they had managed to resuscitate me. I believe I came back because I chose to do so. Had I made the other choice, then I would have remained dead and gone on to another plane of existence.
I do not believe that I am unique in having had this type of experience. However, until recently I never talked about it as I have found many people regard such things as signs of mental illness.

I didn't have a near death experience. I have been clinically dead for a significant amount of time twice in my life. Three minutes and almost five minutes (explains a lot, hunh?)
I did not see (I don't remember seeing) a light at the end of the tunnel in either case, nor remember anything at all other than a tunnel-like effect for a split second, sort of like right before you pass out or nearly pass out. My vision fields closing.
I wish I had seen or heard something to prove myself wrong about everything I believe (or don't) though.

Yes, I've had an experience that came about as close to death as I ever expect to be until the real thing comes along.
I didn't see any tunnel or bright light, but I felt a great sense of peace. I remember praying--I acknowledged that there was nothing, really, I could do for myself, but that I felt my two oldest sons were a little young to do without me just yet.
Actually, that was my greatest concern at the moment--but the feeling of utter serenity in spite of it was something I'd never before experienced, and never have (at least not to that extent) again.

No!
I have seen "lights at end of tunnels" when coming out of an anaesthetic so maybe the lights which people see could be those from a hospital ward when recovering consciousness.
Bit of a doubter re the "near death experiences" which purport to include an after-life and dead relatives; people who are that ill often hallucinate.

Yes..
I was very ill once and was lying in bed, when I saw a very bright light at the end of a dark tunnel, and it was trying to pull me in.
Obviously wasnt ready to go and I felt myself holding back.
Very strange experience.

scientific technology has tremendously plenty characterised "close to dying reports" as hallucinations led to by potential of cerebral hypoxia (loss of oxygen to the suggestions). between the manifestations of hypoxia is a loss of seen container, i.e. you get "tunnel imaginative and prescient." in the time of cardiac arrest circumstances we shine mind-blowing lights furniture into the sufferer's eyes to ascertain pupillary reaction; if the scholars settlement, all of us comprehend CPR is being powerful. A death suggestions is additionally extra carriers to hallucination. human beings deprived of oxygen will regularly hallucinate; in the process the strain of a cardiac arrest, the suggestions will throw out all styles of wierd photos, and maximum probable they're going to contain the guy's worst fears or preconceived notions with regard to the "afterlife." Sorry to burst everybody's bubbles here, even regardless of the undeniable fact that it is in basic terms physique shape, no longer heaven.

Three times (I'm a bit of a fool). Never saw any lights or tunnels but I did see a shopping trolley at the bottom of a filthy river once while I was drowning.

My first Wife died in 1997, while she was in the hospital she said that she saw her brother Bobby, who had died years before, but also saw her mother who had just died. No one told her of her Mother death. She also ask our and me why was our neighbor moving, which we didn't know about until I asked them about it and they confirmed that they was really moving.
