I prefer AMD processors as the can be over clocked; Pentium cannot without risk. Giving your choice, the 800 bus is not that great as there are systems with twice that. I would rather see 1024 but I am not familiar with the motherboard, but if it can handle 4 Gigs of Ram I would say OK. I have a GeForce 5700 256 and the 6200 is much better, but the 7300 at 512 is slightly better.

It really depends on what you are using the PC for. 4.3 Ghz is impressive if it also has the dual processor.

What you haven't said is the price. This would give me a better estimate of the value of the system.

I would estimate the price of this computer without the monitor to be approximately $1675 US dollars with my modifications. As you stated this machine I would value it at approximately $1375 US dollars. If this is within your range I would say it is a fair deal.

By the way, it's not Pentium Core 2 duo, it's called Intel Core 2 duo. The Intel 946GZSI motherboard is better. The XFX GeForce 7300LE 512MB card is better. Both those graphics cards are relatively cheap and can only support the needs of casual gamers. If you play games with high requirements, I recommend looking for another graphics card.
The difference between Pentium 4 and Core 2 duo is that Pentium 4 is older and slower and only has one core. Core 2 duo has 2 cores, which allows it to run faster. Get the Core 2 duo rather than the Pentium 4.

Buy an intel D946GZSI as it is better. Dont go for AMD as they get heated up easily.
The difference between intel core 2 duo and pentium is that Core 2 does not stress designs based on extremely high clock speeds but rather improvements in the processor's usage of both available clock cycles and power. This translates into more efficient decoding stages, execution units, caches, and buses, as well as many other factors. The CPU-family may also have more than one core on a single chip. The power consumption of these processors is much lower than the Pentium desktop line of products.

Go for the xfx graphics card as it has a better performance.

Core2duo 1.8 GHZ will be better than Pentium 4 4.3 GHZ. The mother Board you have selected are good but probably 945 GCL is better & it support,s only PCI Express as it don't have AGP slot. Oniy thing I will tell you is this PCI Express should have 512 MB & should must have pixel shedding fascilities & RAM should have to be PC 3200 or 400 MHz.

By your graphics card selection, you are not a games player, so a Core2 will be a better CPU, as it has 2 processors, it will make everything run much smoother.

The P4 you mentioned will do that same thing, as it has HT, but personally, I would go with a dual core any day.

i'm not a mobo guy but that CPU C2D 1.8Ghz cpu is good but not the best i suggest you buy E6400 or even E6600 its faster and better, the gpu 6200 and 7300 is not a good graphics card, yes it can run games but not as good as you expect it to be, i suggest you get a 7600GS or even 7600GT trust me you wont get disappointed.
it will be a loss buying P4 cpu...

buy :
core 2 duo ( lot better than other P4, more powerfull with 2 cpu)
Intel 946GZSI motherboard ( always use the newest chipset )
GForce 7300 ( More sophisticated than 6200 )

Go buy it now ^^

Personally I would go with an AMD processor they are the only ones that are rated for Vista, and have fewer problems than the Intel chips have
