No, people by nature are social creatures. Back in the B.C. era people who committed crimes would be sent out of town as a punishment. They were doomed to roam forever because no society would cater to a criminal. Hence why these people died not long after. Along other lines...it's impossible to not rely on anything. You need a house or at least shelter, in order to do so you need either land and a tent or a house...which requires money. You need animals and plants for food. Even if you cut most modern day things out of your life, your body relies on things so all in all no.

If you mean that to depend on anyone particular, it is no need. But we are social being, we are independent but we need to gather in social to achieve some goals and that's called interdependent. We cannot work alone in the world. we must cooperate to achieve some goal whether it's career goal or family goal but we need not to be dependent on anyone particular and that's will disempower yourself.
