Neptune is now the furthest out planet. Pluto recently got downgraded in status to a dwarf planet.

So officially there are now 8 planets in the Solar System

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune

Neptune is the farthest from the Sun. Pluto is almost always farther out than Neptune, but last year the IAU passed a resolution defining "planet". As others have said, Pluto is now classified as a "dwarf planet", which is a misleading name because dwarf planets are not a type of planet.

Mercury is the last planet if you go inwards (towards the sun)

Pluto WAS the last planet in the opposite direction (away from the sun)

Now Neptune is the outermost (last) planet.

Neptune. I say Neptune because Pluto has now been called a dwarf planet. Pluto is a dwarf planet because it is made of ice. no other planet is made from ice. it is also very very small that is why we call it a dwarf planet

It depends. If you were coming from another star system, mercury will indeed be the last planet before you crash into our sun. If you start from our sun on your eternal outward journey, Pluto or Neptune will be the last planet depending on whether you are anti- or pro-International Astronomical Union.
