They aren't a dirty team, just because of the series against the suns does not make them a dirty team. Robert Horry was given a two game suspension for the flagrant 2 foul against Steve Nash.
There are a lot of real "dirty" teams in the league, like the Denver Nuggets for example but yet no one ever said "oh the Nuggets are a mean and dirty team" heck the flagrant fouls in that one were awful but no one got suspended. Hmm I wonder.
Also the Spurs aren't "whiners" every team in the league does the same amount of questioning a foul whether it is a true call or just a "makeup" call.

I am a TRUE Spurs fan. Spurs in either 5 or 6!

Some of you commentors aren't really reading the rest of my question but anyways... Bruce Bowen has been called out a couple of times but that doesn't mean people should call him a "dirty" player, just a one-of-a-kind defender.

You are perfectly correct, thank you for speaking the truth!!!!!! People call the Spurs dirty for no reason, sure they make a couple of bad plays but doesn't every team do that? People call the Spurs dirty just because their team lost to them. Bruce Bowen is not dirty either, he is just an excellent defender. They shouldn't make those kind of judgments just because they're angry. Every team has at least one player that play like they say Bruce Bowen does. Also, the Spurs are not boring they play amazing, i think they are just tired of hearing so much about the Spurs

You got me. As Bill Simmons said in a column a couple of months ago "I don't believe the Spurs are even remotely boring, and anyone who says that doesn't actually like basketball." The Spurs don't play a slow-paced game, and they don't emphasize defense. They ranked fourth in points per game this season, and first in assists per game. They've been a high-powered offensive machine with lots of ball movement for several seasons now. No exciting players? Watching Tony Parker drive the lane through guys a foot taller isn't exciting? How about Manu? He's not fun to watch? The only thing boring about the Spurs is their lack of drama and drama queens. They don't thump their own chest every time they make a good play. They don't call each other out after a loss, they don't demand more playing time in the media. When the game is on the line they share the ball and look for the best possible shot, instead of spreading the floor and letting their star go one-one-one, hoping for the best.

Its not that the Spurs are a dirty team it just alot of there players annoy basketball fans so they have to call them something. Tim Duncan is as plain as dirt and makes spurs games boring to watch. Bruce Bowen commits about 30 fouls a game and only gets 3 or 4 fouls called against him a night. Manu is on the best actors in the league with all the flopping and walling hands after a touch foul. Tony Parker is the only excitement this time has but everytime he does something we get a shot of Eva Longoria or hear the same story over and over again.

Three things make the Spurs dirty.

1. Bruce Bowen - The Spur is known as the dirtiest player in the league for numerous reasons.

2. Flopping - Flopping is when you position yourself on defense and flop to the floor when the offensive player come near you in order to draw an offensive foul. The Spurs have taken this art to whole new level. See for yourself during the finals.

3. Complaining to the refs - When your watching the NBA finals this week and next, take notice of the Spurs reaction (specifically Tim Duncan's) to any call that doesn't go their way. They complain on EVERY call. Even if it's obvious, they act like they are completely shocked by the call.

It's coming from Phoenix Suns fans because they lost and they realize that this was probably their best shot at making the finals. They are crying that the Spurs are dirty becuase of Bowen, who may do some things that are dirty..whatever, take a long hard look at Raja there my friends...when he clocked Kobe last year and was suspended for it...does that make the Suns a dirty team??? There were two incidents in the Suns series, one with Bruce, which is iffy and people had to go into super slow motion to "prove" it, which doesn't look like proof and Robert Horry checking Nash into the scorer's table..which was half Horry's frustration and half the fact that Nash is faster than crap and was streaking down the sideline. Add the fact that Parker and Nash accidentally bumped heads in Game One, which Suns fans will tell you is the reason they lost, and that's why they are crying. They blame everyone but themselves for Amare's and Diaw's suspensions....it's the refs or Spurs or Stern's fault for that, but not that Amare and Diaw were warned before the season, before the playoffs and even by Marc Ivarone 10 minutes before it happened to NOT leave the bench, and yet they did. There is no responsibility taken in the Valley of the Sun, they are bitter, filled with hate and very sore losers.

that's a good question. More and more people say that the Spurs are boring. Now they are saying that they are a dirty team. Which one is it? You can't be boring and dirty at the same time. I love watching the NBA but let's be honest: they are all whiners. They want a foul called on every play. Just play ball and stop letting the referee's take the spotlight. If referee's called every foul that they see then the game would be just as long as an NFL game, maybe longer. You can call the Spurs whatever you want, as long you call them the 2007 NBA Champs. Or you can call them a Dynasty. Or, if you are a Cleveland Cav's fan, you can just call them DADDY!!!

Ima a magics fan, but i appreciate the way spurs play ball.
I was rooting for the Suns in that series too.

For all those that think spurs are a dirty team, i think yall should take up a girl's sport like tennis? or croquet?

They play hard and get the job done in the most profficient way possible. They got too much skill to resort to dirty tactics. Ya nooone complains about detroit and indiana punching on at the palace, or denver and knicks going at it. Most people think its cool to get into a one-fall brawl, but to play hard and give ur all, is dirty.

Finaly, I am sure that if the spurs were a losing team no one would give two hoots as to calling em dirty. its because their a winning team and the best franchise in the league atm that people wanna find faults in their style.

Let em play, Spurs in 5. And i agree a serious with Dallas-Miami with Dwade playing like hes possesed is better to watch than any series that the spurs are involved in, but it is refreshing to watch the spurs go to work every other year.

Horry's hit on Nash shocked the hell out of me. Uncalled for and not like Big Shot Rob.

Parker/Nash collision was accidental.

Bowen...... maybe too aggressive but he is not unique in that area.

All this 'dirty' talk started because The Spurs are the best. Golden State was getting their butts kicked.

Sour grapes!!!! People love to bring down the best.

Name a team who didn't get a flagrant 2 in their history? IMO the Spurs just know how to defend the lanes well and put the fear in players who drive inside the lane to fish for fouls, e.g. Nash, and other players who always whine about Bowen's defense.
