I tend to have jobs that keep me very busy when I'm on the clock, but I used to have a boss who had absolutely uncanny timing in this regard. I could diligently work away for several hours (or even days) and never see him, then just as soon as I went to check my personal email… ta da! Like magic.

Anyhow… I used to keep a word document of questions/suggestions open on my screen at all times. Aside from cutting down on post-it waste, it also came in handy whenever he materialized unexpectedly. I’d greet him with “Hey… I have some ideas, if you have a few minutes.” It disguised my frenzied clicking to close my “play window” and gave me an instant work-related topic of discussion.

I used to grab a file folder and shuffle the papers around with a perplexed look on my face... they left in a hurry because they thought I might ask them a question. ;-)
