youre delusional. Robots like that dont exist.

Is it a bad or a good thing, in any case? Mere robots would be great... they can do a lot of crap jobs we would never want to do.

Funny you should ask. I am reading a book titled Gridiron. It is all about Robots and technology. They are building this Smart building, This building is totally controlled by computers. When you sit on the toilet to do your business it actually monitors your blood pressure, and test your urine for all kinds of things. You get in the elevator and you tell it what floor you want instead of pushing a button. The computer actually learns more and more things each day, to make a long story short the computer starts killing people or should I say the building starts killing people, So.... yes some technology is good and some robots are good but if we rely on them for all of the human work we are in a lot of trouble,. Not only will no one have jobs we will have to turn to a machine for our existence.

Is the job you do now convertable to automation? Any job that can be done over a wire (POTS) upto a T3 line will soon be done by machines - including remote control object manipulation. If companies can be sold on the idea that even the cheapest labor in the world is too expensive, and can be replaced by an automatic machine can be programmed to do it faster, cheaper, and with better quality, then it won't be a very good future for the working class - anywhere. The question is, who will be able to afford anything if everyone's on welfare or starving?

Will there alway be service jobs? If service jobs become more expensive, I'm pretty sure they can and will be replaced first by Certified Serfs (H1b's), then migrant labor, then by even more useful machines when it's perceived that the human workforce is asking for too much...

Double edged sword - and for my silly part of answering I must say that if you saw that poor robot jump to his death on the Superbowl commercial we may not have to worry about it too much. But there's gonna be a definite need for robot therapists!

When robots develop a conscience, I'll be slightly worried.

Infact, a UK report says computers may have rights by 2056

Robots are just computers, and therefore are only as smart or stupid as we make them. It is unlikely robots will ever be able to 'evolve' on their own.
