Is an underwire bra okay to wear?
Underwire bras are not recommended for several reasons:

Your breast shape will change throughout the day as milk is produced and emptied
Your breasts may swell due to retained fluid late in pregnancy
Underwire can put pressure on the breast which may lead to blocked milk ducts or mastitis

Hmmm... I am pregnant with my fourth child and this is the first time I have ever heard that one! I suppose in rare instances it could do something to your breasts but I have always worn underwires and never had a problem. After the baby is born though...when I am breast feeding, I tend to wear soft maternity bras...at least for the first few months when I am extremely engorged with milk. I really don't think that you will have any problems from wearing underwires...unless you have been in pain from them.

I personally think that people (maybe it is just the magazine writers!) make way to much of possible dangers when you are pregnant. If you took everyones opinion to heart...you wouldn't do anything....even laying down is apparently a big no-no when you are pregnant (on your back anyway as it can restrict bloodflow). My grandma would chase rabbits through the bush for her 5 other childrens dinner when she was 8 months pregnant with my mum and she was perfectly fine! I doubt anyone would consider that a good thing to do when pregnant these days but our ancestors that and hundreds of other things deemed 'dangerous' today without problems.

Good luck with it and ask your doctor or midwife at your nezxt appointment. None of mine EVER told me that underwires were dangerous!!

Underwire bras - Your breasts are growing and changing throughout pregnancy. If anything puts pressure on the new, delicate tussue, it could become inflamed or blocked. wear comfortable brash and make sure you get fitted for the right sized bra when breastfeeding.

Never heard of it and I don't think there is any restriction on the kind of bra you can wear. I'm absolutely certain that will not have any effect on your pregnancy, the only possible thing I can think of is you being uncomfortable wearing it. If it was not a medical journal, maybe somebody is just trying to promote their own products.

I've never worn anything but underwires during pregnancy and breastfeeding and never had any problems, but it can potentially give you the breastfeeding problems suggested above. I wouldn't worry about it during pregnancy as long as your comfortable. Your boobs would let you know if it was causing you any problems. Other than boob pain it wouldn't cause your pregnancy any other harm - i.e. to your baby.

No, you shouldn't wear underwires during pregnancy or lactation. Apart from being extremely uncomfortable, they may block off some of your milk ducts....

Yeah they say it can affect your breast milk production if you plan to breast feed. the wires presses up against veins i think, but i know its not good for milk production
Who would want to wear a underwire while pregnant, those things are so freakn annoying and hurt like heck..

I can't answer the question about under-wires and pregnancy, but I can tell you that boxers are better than briefs when trying to conceive. It is a proven fact that the cooler the little swimmers are, the more productive. Sorry for not knowing how to help with your dilemma.
