I wish I would have seen it. This is so cool and is exactly the type of exposure that the NHL needs. Maybe a visit to all the late night talk shows.......... and dare I say an appearance to OPRAH would bring an almost non exist ant sport in some parts of the US to the spotlight which it so much deserves. Cheers to you Jay Leno.

Cool that they were on Leno. But, you write your question like it was the first time the Cup has been on Leno. It's been on Leno, Letterman, O'Brien, Kilborn, and meet the Press. All those appearances in the past didn't help the state of hockey to date did it? I think the best appearance would have been when the winning Rangers walked out with it on Letterman.
I am very disappointed at the hockey coverage, NBC is reporting lowest ratings ever, when it should have made a big splash being the first time the cup was won in California.
As for hockey promotions related to the cup, in my mind being on Leno is very small in comparison to the Cup just coming back from entertaining the troops in Afghanistan.

First off, the Goaltender J.S. Giguere's nickname, is spelled "Jiggy." (I honestly don't mean to be rude, J.S. is my favorite player and he's just awesome and the newspaper reporters just don't know how to spell, but they corrected the "G" and did make it "Jiggy.") Secondly, the third Duck was Brad May #24, acquired from Colorado Avalanche before the trade deadline. I also think it's good idea to promote hockey, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea for the players to do it. As of right now, the team that just won the Cup has players that barely get recognized in Southern California like THE GREAT KOBE BRYANT and, according to quotes, they don't want to be bombarded like that... especially not George Parros.

I can't believe I missed this...
Sidney Crosby was on Jay Leno last year. Good stuff.
I agree, the players do need to get their faces out there. It was one of the things talked about during the lockout when suggestions for bettering the league were being discussed. Even if you're not a golf fan, you know what Tiger Woods looks like. Even here in Pittsburgh, some people who aren't fans of hockey have heard of Sidney Crosby but they have no clue what he looks like.
Ohhh, how could you not recognize Mayday though?! (If that was him.) It's okay, I forgive you...this time. =P

For all those of us who like and for all those of us who do not not like President Obama, we must ask ourselves if we like our country, whether we do or don't like President Obama, he is still our president. The web is a world wide thing and we are not the only users of it. What other people think of us does make a difference and there are those in the world that would like nothing better than to see our country go belly-up. It is time for us to get down to the nitty gritty and see what small part we can play in the putting of our country first so our homes will be more secure and our lives more fulfilling. Bickering and the such only serves to degrade our image on the world scene, therefore making the job all the harder for our representatives out there who are trying to bring home the best deals for all of us!

I don't think the problem lies in what the players do off the ice. They volunteer as much as any other sports stars. They also seem to have much fewer arrests that in other sports. I is a hard game to get into if you didn't grow up around it.
I think more involvement in communities in the US that are not typically "hockey" towns would help.
The price of hockey is also prohibitive to some people. It has to be one of the most expensive sports to play.

I remember Scott Stevens was on Letterman (Tom Green hosted because he was sick) after they won the cup in 03. Public appearances can help (I think they are more exciting for people who are already fans). Hence there is no substitute for organic culture, you can't force it.
