I recently heard that if you have severe morning sickness. It is likely that you are having a girl. Hormone levels are even crazier if you are giving birth to a female baby. However, My friend gave birth to a baby girl and did not vomit once during her ENTIRE pregnancy. And another friend of mine vomited like a mad woman and gave birth to a little boy. Hormones are the reason a pregnant woman vomits for the first 3 months though, sometimes longer then that.

Morning sickness can occur at any time of the day, though it occurs most often upon waking, because blood sugar levels are typically the lowest after a night without food.

Morning sickness usually starts in the first month of the pregnancy, peaking in the fifth to seventh weeks, and continuing until the 14th to 16th week.
The possible causes include:

1. An increase in the circulating level of the hormone estrogen. Estrogen levels may increase by up to a hundredfold during pregnancy.
2. Low blood sugar during pregnancy.
3. An increase in progesterone relaxes the muscles in the uterus, which prevents early childbirth, but may also relax the stomach and intestines, leading to excess stomach acids.
4. An increase in human chorionic gonadotropin.
5. An increase in sensitivity to odors, which overstimulates normal nausea triggers.
A notable current scientific hypothesis is that morning sickness exists as a safeguard for the embryo's health. A study indicates that the intake of alcohol, sugar, oils, and meat can trigger morning sickness. This then acts as a way of discouraging ingestion of less healthy foods. I t is also stated that eating vegetables may be a factor as well.Vegetables produce a small amount of toxins to deter insect infestation and while these toxins are normally harmless to adult humans, they are potentially dangerous to embryos. Additionally, morning sickness begins at the point when the embryo's organ systems are being laid down and the embryo is most vulnerable to birth-defect inducing chemicals, but is growing slowly and has only a modest need for nutrients. By the 14th-16th week, when morning sickness typically wanes, the organ systems of the embryo are mostly complete and the most prominent need is now nutrients. Women afflicted by morning sickness typically avoid "bitter, pungent, highly-flavored, and novel foods," foods which are likely to contain toxins

Not all women do vomit. I had morning sickness for three days and only threw up once.

It is because off all the hormonal changes in the womans body.

It is because of hormones. They start going crazy. The different levels of estrogen or progesteron or whatever those things are called get wacked up and women get sick. I hate it. I hade it bad for 6 months with my first two kids. 3 months would be a miracle.

Though uncomfortable and not much fun, vomiting is your bodys way of getting rid of any toxins that might cause your baby harm.
