I have a new friend who recently revealed to me that he is a male prostitute. He said he "sells" his body to gay people everytime his family "urgently" needs money. Like him, I too am poor. So, I can't tell him to stop doing it simply because I can't help him either. During one of our conversations, he asked me to help him find clients. He said he just wanted to raise enough money to start a small business. It came to me as a shock ... and so will my friends, relatives, and family be if they learned I'm selling somebody else's body! I have gay friends ... but they too would be shocked! I cannot imagine myself doing that job! I pity the guy, though, and honestly appreciate what he would do if only to help his family! Becoming a male prostitute never crossed my mind even if my family needed money (but maybe because I never had the looks he had!). I am hesitant to help him ... but my nature challenges me to do something for a change ... for something new! What shall I do?

We are from the Philippines, and my friend is from the province. In our country, employment is very hard to find, and we don't have benefits enjoyed by first world countries. Actually, I am managing a tuna fish station put up by my bro in law, and my friend is my all-around staff. I am just helping my bro in law and content myself with free food & lodging. Lucky for my friend he has a monthly salary of 2,000 pesos(about $43) free food & lodging. The store is new so we can't afford to pay high salary. I always discourage him from being a male prostitute, but he said he can't do anything if his parents need money badly. He said both are old & sick, and his brothers & sisters can't support them financially. Every night he can't sleep, always thinking about his parents. He is young at 20, and I really pity him. I told him to wait till our store begins to earn so we can raise his salary. But the urgency of the need is what's pushing him! I don't want to leave him for dead.

The least yu can do is offer to try and keep him safe. be a phone contact if anything goes wrong. Is he aware of the risks he is taking? He could contract HIV, AIDS or get hurt by someone. Make sure he gets regular check ups for the above diseases.

Tell him to set up his own website!
There's plenty of free web hosting sites.
Its safer & he can make $$ if he's hot!
by the way, its more common than u think - gay men selling themselves -all over the world, so don't be shocked.
Peace.

DO NOT GET YOURSELF INVOLVED!!! His problems are his, not yours. You have enough of your own. A true friend would not even ask you to do something like that. Get away before he trys to use you for something else!!
