Persia would be a fine name instead of Iran. The people of Iran speak Persian and are Persians, right? And Iran is next to the Persian Gulf too; maybe this is because Iran really is Persia. We don't call it the Iranian Gulf, do we?
And if Iran, or Persia, were to get a good democratic government with human rights, it would be cause for joy. I'm sure all the Persians would celebrate.

Dear W S, I fully agree with you on the idea that Iran should be known to the world in her pristine name, i.e., Persia. I am not a Persian. I am a Hindu.

first of all, i am a persian too ,but...
1)we have other races too in iran now actually 45% and this name for them is not fair
2)it is better we call iran ,united nations of iran(uni) which is better
3)but we should try to teach about relation between iran and persia more so they understand that it is true ,somethings has changed but mostly it is the same culture ,so these two name do not differ so much and be equal and mean one thing to other nations
4)however persia more than a race or nation or country is a culture ,it is possible that somebody from usa be persian or another from tehran do not be

I don't think Iran deserves to be called Persia. The Persian Empire was such a rich and historic culture, that it really should remain a separate entity from what exists there today. Iran has so much negativity surrounding it these days, as we have all seen as of late, and they are even performing actions that are endangering the precious ancient remains of its predecessor. Not to say that the old Persian Empire was so benevolent and good, but still, you get the point!

Will be wise not to change anything that was left beind after world war two.
Look around at all the mess out there.
Our little ones were looking for those gifts of life that was lost with time.
With all the changes in doing things at own whims and fancy in making a mess out there.
Remember we are not the landlord of God's natural assets.
We just came and passing by only.

If the Brave People of Iran want to change their name to Persia they would have by now. There's nothing wrong with a name like Iran.America should change it's name to "Big County that starts Wars, but Can't Win Wars"

Sounds fine to me.
I love the part about Iran getting a civilized government and their people getting freedom. Wouldn't that be great.
