I just turned 30 today and feel really down. I am still in school, don't have a girlfriend and life seems hopeless.

First off... Happy Birthday and may you feel better about yourself everyday!!! It's normal to feel depress because you are not in your 20's anymore. Everyone goes through the same thing. You maybe feel the same way when you turn 40.You're still in school which means you are educating yourself to achieving your goals and career in life. As for the girlfriend part. Don't stress it. Smile more at girls in your school, work, and they will respond. Even if they may not smile back, don't be discouraged. Making an effort to smile will make you feel better and make you look more approachable.I think men mature better with age. You could be 35 and be dating a 25 year old. Don't sweat it. Relax and try to enjoy life now.

Any birthday ending in a zero is monumental! I'm fast approaching my 4 zero! Three more months! Know what? I'm excited! I remember taking a breath at 30 and thinking..wow. I think what you're going through is totally normal. Don't get too down, you are in school working towards something. You don't have a girlfriend but couldn't that change tomorrow, this week, next month? Find ways to really life your day to day life to the fullest and I bet by the time you turn 31 you'll be much happier. Life is certainly not over at 30 in fact, it's just beginning! Perk up. Take your life by the horns and make it what you want! Have you ever heard the song "Drive" by incubus? Go look up the lyrics or listen to the song, very inspiring. Good luck and Happy Birthday YOUNG man! ;)

Well, what is the root of the reason you are down... surely not because you are blessed with life beyond 29?

How many wish they could have made it to 30 now. How many in their lives , wicked lives and or treachuous lives, hope that they will make it to SEE 30?

Is it perhaps because you don't have a girlfriend? So what... I am 38 and don't have a boyfriend and wish I didn't have a husband...well, you know what I mean...

Be aware that you are blessed and that you chose the right thing to continue in your education first. Girls will forever be around. Whats the rush on them.

If you must need to be in their company...Make yourself sociable and hang out a little more. Library perhaps...huh? Huh???? Perhaps ask someone nice about help with some homework or something... Strike a fire! and the smoke will billow!

p.s. When I turned 30, I always said I couldn't wait to be dirty thirty and naughty 40, and nifty 50, and sexy sixty and at 70, I probably will be beyond boyfriends then!

When I turned 30, I bought a brand new Camero with t-tops, got my belly button pierced and got my first tattoo!!! I guess you could say I was feeling "a little down" too. This year I will be 40 and my life hasn't changed much. I still look good (considered a milf) and I still feel good. Aging doesn't bother me much anymore. I'm still in school, I work part time, I will be a grandma in October and life is good. Your just going through a hard time right now but things will get better!!!

Some people feel that way when they turn 30. Pat yourself on the back for pursuing higher education. That alone will improve your life. Life is not hopeless and I bet this time next year you will have a girlfriend.

C'mon buddy. Pick yourself up. You are still in school b/c you are working towards a goal? Isn't that something good? As for the ladies department? Well, definitely have some confidence, and that will help you...try and get out and be social!

Don't worry though. It is okay to feel a little depressed about turning 30, but at least it's not 40! You're still a pup!

Look at the alternatives.

You could NOT be turning 30 today because you are dead.

You could be shot up by a roadside bomb in Iraq. I bet any one of those soldiers would trade places.

Think about it.

You've got to find a passion for something--what makes you feel most alive? As long as it is healthy, do it! Don't worry about being 30 and still in school and no girlfriend. Look at what you do have--obviously brains bc you are in school and are using Yahoo Answers. AND yI have to say that your avatar is kinda sexy--bald is beautiful!

This ain't no dress rehearsal man!

Your life is never hopeless, you were born with a purpose, you just have to seek God for direction. feeling down is normal, but don't feel down too long being 30 isn't bad. nothing is bad as it seem. No girlfriend, that good these days. too many disease out there, so continue to wait for that special someone it will be worth the wait.

You shouldn't feel down because you're still young (I think you are). It's okay if you're still in school, it shows that you care about education which is always a good thing. Having a boyfriend or girlfriend doesn't mean anything, being independent/single is always a lot of fun too. Hang out with your friends and have a lot of fun during your time off and don't worry about your age. Life is too short to worry about stuff like that.

Believe it or not when i turned 28 that's when it hit me, i wasn't getting any younger but it didn't take me long to get over that. Turning 30 didn't bother me at all in fact
i realized that being in my 30's i was still young and feeling good about myself. Now that I'm in my 40's i still think of myself as being young. I ask my mother and a couple of older people just when it was they started to feel old and everyone i ask told me, it happened when they turned 60. I
hope i have made you feel better about yourself. Your still young and don't no it and that is a shame.
