The "Indigo Child" thing started as an attempt by New Age parents to relabel antisocial behavior in their children as some kind of "special" spiritual endowment. Now it's just an excuse to legitimize arrogant, selfish behavior arising from bad parenting. And there are no superpowers involved whatsoever. There is nothing magical, nothing supernatural. That's all wishful thinking. On a related note, the Crystal Children thing is just the latest knock-off from the same idea. It's the same crap, different package.

The Indigo child concept was first publicized in 1999 by the book The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived, written by the husband-and-wife team of Lee Carroll and Jan Tober. Carroll insists that the concept was obtained via conversations with a spiritual entity known as Kryon.
The reason for the use of the adjective "indigo" is not universally agreed upon: some sources link it with an early researcher into the phenomenon, who was synesthetic. It has also been claimed that these children appear with an indigo-hued aura.

They are usually more informed and more responsible,The Indigo Child is a boy or girl who displays a new and unusual set of psychological attributes,May be strong-willed, independent thinkers who prefer to do their own thing rather than comply with authority figures/parentsAre creative right brained thinkers but may struggle to learn in a traditional left brained school system,Often Indigos are diagnosed as having ADD/ADHD since they appear impulsive (their brain can process information faster) and they require movement to help keep them better focused.Indigos are very intuitive (often psychic) and may see, hear or know things that seem unexplainable.Indigos tend to be more visual, kinesthetic learners so remember best what they can picture in their brain and create with their hands .Indigo Children can sense dishonesty, like a dog can sense fear. Indigos know when they're being lied to, patronized, or manipulated.

before reading your question, I didnt know what an indigo child was, but from what I read its complete BS.
It describes what everyone wants to believe about themselves.
Everyone wants to think they are psychic and have good intuition, even if they are far from it.
Everyone wants to believe they are there for a positive purpose in the world.
Everyone wants to believe they are special, and that there is something different about them.
Everyone has dreams and or fantasies about something that they want to believe was a past life.
The indigo child concept is just a way people to sell books and make money off of every individuals desire to believe they are special.
I bet everyone who reads down the description of an indigo child has at least for a moment started to think they were one.
oh yeah and most kids an active imagination and when they get older they can not conceive that they would be sitting thier talking to themselves and pretending that there was someone there. Thus the belief that children talk to angels and ghosts. Because adults dont have that much imagination.

A dangerous label that actually limits & hinders a child's natural ability to discover who they are. It's a shameful "Hollywood" term that puts a target on the wearer. Only an idiot parent would openly proclaim that they have an Indigo Child! It is something that is passed down form one bloodline to another. Usually through the Mother to the child. It should remain a secret in order to be used for the good of all life.

An indigo child is a child with one foot in the physical world, and the other foot in the spirit world.
They are unusually gifted in some way.
There have always been indigo children walking the earth (at least for the past few hundred years, then in the 1970s, most children were indigo children. The world just doesn't seem to make much sence.
Indigo children are usually very smart, and very sensitive, and seem to be from a different world than their parents.

According to one theory I have heard from a college professor, an Indigo Child is the result of a crossbreeding of human and alien. This is supposed create an individual of superior intelligence and ESP , etc. There is also a believed connection with RH negative blood types, which seem to have much higher average IQ's than RH positives.

Its an extremely sensitive child, very smart, that decided to reincarnate to help the earth. The indigo children are displaying psychic abilitites such as visions, telepathy, dreams that come true, they see auras, in young age they can see angels and they have very strong intuition. They also remember their past lives. They know when they are lied too and they are also here to teach love. :)
