The first thing that you should do is open a new window of your hard drive and look at the size column. This will tell you what folders are taking up the most room. Then, decide what you want to delete if you don't need it. After deciding what to delete, drag your junk to the trash folder. Once you have dragged everything to the trash, and you have made sure you don't need it, go to the Finder bar at the top of the screen and press empty trash. This will delete everything in your trash and you won't be able to retrieve it again. This should open up some space.

Another option you have is to export some files you do not need at the moment, but may need in the future, to another drive. This could be a USB key or a Fire Wire drive.

Hope this helps! :)

I think "legend" misread your question. Maybe he thinks you have an "emachine". Those "machines" are Windows computers.

On the hard drive is a folder called "Users" and in that is your home folder. Don't worry if the name is not what you want. You should never change the name of your home folder. Open your home folder. Inside it are several folders. The one called "Library" is off limits so leave it alone. All other folders can be burned to a CD. You may need to burn only the Music and Movies folders because those are usually the largest. Verify that the burned CD has exactly what you want and that the files can be opened and used. After that, you can trash any of those folders except Library. Then logout or restart and empty the trash.

Ultimately, you need a larger hard drive. Because replacing the hard drive on an eMac is about as difficult and as dangerous as milking a tiger, I recommend an external Firewire or USB drive.
