It has to be Schilling he was one out away from a no no (no hitter) and Clemens has just started to get back in the swing of things and is bound to retire soon because he wanted to retire as a freakin' Yankee

Clemens is going to the Hall of Fame - no question.

Schilling - a great post-season pitcher, but doesn't have the numbers that Clemens has - he might only get in if he buys a ticket.

For a big post-season game, I choose Schilling easily. Deserved or not, Clemens has a reputation of coming up short in the big games more often than not. Schilling rises to the occasion.

For 2007, I'd give the nod to Schilling.

Clemens is a 5 inning pitcher while Schilling will get you to 7th. Clemens has been prone to injuries than Schilling. Schilling is a leader in the clubhouse, while Clemens only wants to fly in to pitch and then go home.

Both great pitchers.

Clemens is a much better pitcher over all, but Clemens is also something like 5 years older than Schilling. Schilling is still a premier pitcher in this league, while Clemens must be a hell of a salesmen. He got the Yankees to give him that much for what he's putting out on the table. I mean he's probably gonna end up being an above average pitcher for the Yanks this season, but for the money they are giving him for about a half of a season, you would think this was the Roger Clemens of 1986.

If I were constructing a team from scratch to play in the AL I'd take Schilling immediately on intangibles. They both want to win but Clemens can't provide that much leadership in the clubhouse if he doesn't want to show up when he's not pitching. The Yankees don't care about team chemistry so I can see them taking Clemens if they had the choice.

Clemens was more consistent last year than Schilling has been this year, though stats suggest Clemens faced easier lineups. They are both showing their age--Clemens with low pitch count and Schilling with less speed and more inconsistency. Clemens is so old it's a big gamble that he can duplicate last year's performance, so I think if I were an owner making a midseason acquisition I'd go with Schilling because he's more of a known quantity right now.

If you're talking lifetime achievement, I'd say Clemens has the edge.

now of days i'd of course rather have schilling. but if you're in a time machine drafting one or the other you go with clemens. allthough it'd be a close call i'd say. clemens is a power house strike out pitcher who's going to put you in line for a lot of wins whether you score a lot of runs or not. some of his boston days weren't with high scoring teams and schilling in phillie you might be able to argue that as well but still clemens would give you a better career

career era comes in big along with being clutch. curt is clutch but clemens still has the edge

clemens era: 3.10
schilling era: 3.45

At this point I would have to say Curt Schilling because he is the type of pitcher who can get you at least 7 innings and preserves the bullpen. Schilling is very crafty and has sacrificed his strikeout ratio and has become more of a flyball and groundball pitcher on the other hand clemens tries to overpower and strikeout so he runs out of gas faster and gives up a lot more walks. He will most likely give you 5 innings and does not have a good track record with al hitters.
