I have a leopard gecko, a big fat one, and the first day i got him, i notice that he shaked his tail. I laugh it looked funny. Anyway, i have always wondered why they do it.

mine shakes the end of its tail when it gets exicited like when it first sees food or when i am petting it when it is about to strike it waves its tail in the air it is very entertaining :) I guess it is just body language like a dog waging its tail.

Maybe it's the equivalent of getting so excited (over the food) that "chills" run down it's spine.

I had two American toads that would "tap" the middle toes on their hind feet when I put crickets in their tank. Guess it's a reptile/amphibian thing we'll never understand.

its completely frequent. leopard geckos do this through fact they are excited to get there foodstuff and that they are hingry for it too. dont be stressful approximately it. i'm hoping this facilitates sturdy success : ]

IT DATES BACK TO PREHISTORIC TIMES WHEN THEY HAD TO CATCH THEIR OWN FOOD WITHOUT BEING FED BY SOMEONE AND BY SHAKING THE TAIL IT DISTRACTS THE PREY EITHER THAT OR HE/;SHE SHAKES THE TAIL TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE NEW MEAL.

Maybe it really likes you and just wants to stay in shape! Just kidding, I never heard that before but that's pretty cool.
