To love & honor God with all our hearts & show the right way to the lost who do not know Him.
This is our true purpose.God is the only one who matters, because He can destroy our bodies & souls,or He can be pleased with us & reward us with everlasting peace & happiness.

I am an atheist. I don't believe there is a prescribed "purpose" in life.

My goal ((purpose?) in life, which no one set but myself, is
A. to be happy.
B. To help those around me, particularly those I love, to be happy as best I can.

I am happy to report that I achieved part A many years ago,

Part B is a continuing work until the day I die (which unfortunately, I imagine, will make some people unhappy).

Since I don't believe that our sole purpose in life is to constantly flatter a jealous, haughty, vengeful God who with destroy us if his demand for worship is not appeased ...

I think our purpose is to:
1. Live and let live.
2. Never judge another unless we are willing to accept judgement ourselves. (and judgement sucks).
3. Always help a brother or a sister out.
4. Hate little; love lots.
5. Do whatever you want in life that makes you happy, as long as it doesn't bother or hurt anyone else.

And beyond that I think we should live in the "now" instead of the past or the unknown present. If we do good and look out for one another, I think that's all that can be expected of us.

Some will say that it is to seek our own happiness but those who say that will always add something. For example, one of the answers above says:

A. to be happy.
B. To help those around me, particularly those I love, to be happy as best I can.

If you listen closely enough, there is always a "B answer" that indicates that they really think they have a more noble purpose than just being happy.

And those who say that life has no purpose always live their lives for something they consider noble, even if they don't admit it.

A noble purpose gives our lives worth and we must consider our lives to have worth.

For those who accept that their Creator may exist, seeking Him is seeking purpose, meaning and worth.

To experience and learn as much as we possibly can and to pass that on. To find love and happiness and if you ask scientists, to procreate. I prefer the love and happiness theory!

'Purpose' could be a human concept that is meaningless to the Universe.
