I love it, too! I am all for it. Why do you think that dems or liberals have to be against it. I am a liberal, and I think that most people, if they really understand it and also understand how so very wrong the income tax really is, woudl have to be all for it, too! Regardless of where they stand politically! *sm*

The FairTax is but a concept with a name which appeals to taxpayers. In all seriousness, do you ACTUALLY expect 100 Senators and 435 Congress people to keep their mitts off of a FairTax, if the concept were passed ?

The ink from the president's signature on such a bill would not be yet dry before this crowd of politicians would be in corners huddled together, wrangling modifications and exemptions to the 'FairTax' to somehow help their districts and constituents.

If you think anything else would happen, I have some lovely beachfront for sale at an attractive price right in the middle of the Mojave Desert.

The FairTax would be very difficult to implement. It would require amending the Constitution as the Federal government only has the Constitutional authority to collect income taxes.

The only way taxes will be "fair" is to get rid of the cause of inflation. Abolish the Federal Reserve System and replace it with a United States Reserve owned by the American people with gold and silver to back paper currency.

Next abolish the I.R.S. and go with a flat 5% Federal Tax, 3% State tax and 2% local tax, for a total of 10% (if God can get by on 10%, surely governments can). Never raise the tax rate, always stay on budget. That would be fair.

The biggest problem is implementation. Going to the fair tax means repealing the Constitutional Amendment that allowed income tax... or we will wind up with both.

Repealing amendments isn't easy.

It would be easier to go to a flat tax, which I support. Why should someone overtime be taxed a higher rate. That's not incentive work more.

Hope you are rich and not middle class. Think about who favors this the most. Rich people do. It WILL bring down their taxes. You don't expect the gov't. to take in less money do you? If the upper class is paying less in, that means that the middle class will be paying more in. Nothing against the rich, that's just the way it will be.

Diferent people have different ideas of what is fair. Just because you choose to call some thing fair does not necessarilly mean that it is, & even if it is, not everyone will see it that way.

since republicans favor it, that means big business favors it along with the wealthy, and while it may reduce the IRS work force it will not eliminate it like some people posit....someone still has to write a check to pay the IRS and some will not do so, people will still try to cheat to reduce their tax and IRS will need to audit
