I have a Koi(spelling.. not sure) and 3 large goldfish in my pond. One of the goldfish has this blackish stuff along its sides.
I treat the pond .So what have i missed? Thanks for your time!!

I guess you've had the fish for a while and this isn't his normal coloring. Have you had the water tested for ammonia and nitrite? This can cause black patches to form if they are in high concentrations - the one may just be more sensitive to the compounds than your other fish. Another possibility is that it's from a physical injury.

Are you able to tell if the patches are from color under the scales (in the skin) or something (parasite, algae) on top? That might be a start to figuring out the problem, although it would mean netting the fish to examine it.

If it's not hurting him visibly, or making him lethergic or sickly I'd say it's just a pond mold.
It might depend on how often you treat your pond .... other than that I'm not sure.
