Try running Spybot, Ad-Aware, Superantispyware. They're really effective if they are made to work together. Could also be a virus, so I recommend you take AVG with you. Use CCleaner to clean up the bits left after the battle.

Click on each of these links to download the programs:

Try this.

First, disconnect from the Internet. Unplug your ethernet cable or disable/turn off your wireless radio. (If wireless, right-click on the wireless icon in your systray--lower right part of your screen.)

Then see if you have a system restore point from before your web-surfing. If your computer runs XP, click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and System Restore.

If you succeed, remember to install, update and use a good firewall, anti-virus program, and spyware protection before you venture back to the Internet. There are good, free ones available for personal use: Zone Alarm, AVG Free, and Ad-Aware Personal.

Look for them at download.com.

Good luck!

Try uninstalling the spyware if you can. Try programs such as Microsoft's Anti-Spyware aka Defender, Spybot Search & Destroy, Adaware, AVG anti-virus. If all else fails, reinstall the Operating System. Don't forget to back up any important files or documents.
