It absolutely cannot happen at this time, due to infighting between the two Palestinian factions, Fatah and Hamas.
Before the Palestinian people can make peace with Israel, they must make peace with themselves.

You have to remember there is a civil war going on among the Palestinians. Until one of the factions comes out on top or they agree to bury the hatchet, they will not be able to put up a united front to engage in any constructive dialog with the Israelis.
Fundamentally, this is a problem the Israelis and Palestinians are going to have to solve on their own. The United States cannot play referee between the sides until they come together and set up some common ground.

That is a huge order to ask for - given the history of the conflict. Additionally, until the Palestinian government can control groups like Hama's, Martyr Brigade, Al Qaeda, it will never become a reality. Not to mention Israel returning what belongs to the Palestinians.
They both are not ready to cease fire and are both willing to fight continuously and without end. We should allow them to work out their differences and only try to diplomatically work this issue for both sides.

Hmmm. They've been fighting since Moses led the Jews out of Egypt. Mostly nonstop. What makes you think peace is right around the corner.

Nothing. The hatreds run so deep that nothing will help. If you form an alliance with one member of the Palestinians, there will always be another group, Hamas, Martyr's Brigade, Al Qaeda, someone who will attack Israel causing Israel to retaliate. It will never end.

Israel has not lived in peace with it's neighbors in 5,000 years. Before Islam or Christianity ever existed. The only time there has been peace is when it was occupied.

Unfortunately, it seems that there can never be peace there. Everyone hates Israel so much for little or no reason.
As long as there are religious fanatics in the world there can be no peace anywhere.
The US should stay out or help Israel from the sidelines, which they probably already do.

The U.S. shouldn't have to mediate. Enough is enough.., let them figure it out for themselves or else kill each other. I am sick of the U.S. thinking it can get two stubborn countries together.
