I have never had a best friend before until the last 2 years. My friend Jocelyn comes from a mormon family with high values and is actually a lot like mine. My parents have recently been telling me they don't want me to be with Jocelyn anymore at all and to eventually not be friends with her. They don't want me to because they think she influences me and I don't have a strong enough personality to deal with her. I do have a very strong personality and I only do what I want my friends never influence me to do anything. How can I just say goodbye to a friendship that is so strong? How can I tell my parents that this can't happen? I need help.
You can e-mail me too.

There are three options, think all, analyze all, and then take your own decision, and do not regret for that decision later-
1. Parents sometime sees which we can not see, they are right and we are wrong, we will only understand this after 3~4 years, so it is better to follow the path advised by parents.
2. There is generation gap between us and Parents, they think as per their experience 10 years back, now things have changed as time changed, new technology, new thoughts, new environment, so you are right, respect parents, but take your own decision, otherwise you will be stuck up, will not able to walk with the world.
3. Arrange a Meeting, Sit with your parents, your friend, together, and discuss all issues, negatives, and close it out.
All the best, Good Luck, God Bless you.

Ask them if they are really afraid that she is going to convince you to join her church, cause I bet that's the REAL problem.

But, you can't join our church if you are under 18, unless you have permission from your parents.

I would obey your parents, but try to convince them to allow you to choose your friends. Try to learn why the do not want you to spend time with her, and encourage them to talk to her parents.
