I think for me it would have to be a chipmunk.. I remember having squirrels in the ceilings of my 110 yr old Victorian home and oh my the damage they did , wasnt easy to get rid of them either, but got it done,

Neither. Both are naturally gnawers, and would probably hurt themselves trying to gnaw through the bars of a cage. Make a noise that would be annoying in the process, too.
