Please name a technology that we feel as though we cannot live without, but it wasn't an issue in teh past.

What you are using now, the computer. Emailing, typing, etc. Especially typing on Word as opposed to the manual typewriter. I'd definitely say Computer is #1. You didn't miss the computer in the past because it didn't exist. Now, people would go nuts.
