I recently installed a new memory card, as a result, I could not connect to the internet properly. When I checked the "Computer Management" screen, it appeared that "I lost my lease to my IP address." What could have caused this error? More importantly, Why am I connected to the internet as I right this question? Is this a software issue, is there a patch for this?

Lease time is usually set for 48hrs.. So once in every 48hrs the Lease time will get renewed and the device holding the IP address will always request the DHCP server for the same IP address.. So this is not a big issue.. (ex. if your PC holds the ip 192.168.1.5 and if it is turned off for a day or two and the DHCP server could possibly assign the same 192.168.1.5 to PC).. And the PC may be assigned a different IP address if the DHCP server got itself reset or if there is a major change made on your PC..

The DHCP client lost the lease of the IP Address address. The network is brought down. If you want to see DHCP messages in the future, choose YES. Otherwise choose NO.

Explanation:
The network went down, causing all clients to lose their leases.

User Action:
Wait for the network to come back online to renew your client's Internet Protocol (IP) address.

It appears to be a harmless bug; but loosing lease to IP yet connected might manifest itself in not able to download anything like a driver or a game demo file. Is this happening frequently? Is download impossible for you?

Why worry about it if the provider is still connecting you to the internet?
