Well, blond or not, they apparently didn't pay much attention in biology. In order for breeding to occur the animals have to be very closely related to each other. Like breeding a horse and a donkey to get a mule. Cats and dogs, not related. Monkeys and humans, not closely related. Humans and apes, welllll not too sure about that one and don't really want any experimenting going on with it.

The Soviets did try this, actually, in the 1920s. As the Soviet state was strictly atheistic (in line with its Marxist-Leninist roots), scientists were attempting to engineer some sort of biological proof of evolution by showing chimps and humans could reproduce. Speaking as an atheist and big fan of evolutionary theory, their grasp of evolution is mind-boggling, but, then, I guess it was the 1920s and the level of research was still making eugenics sound like a good thing. No pregnancies resulted.
While hypothetically interesting, I do not find the cross-breeding of species (any species, not just humans because we're special or anything like that) to be always ethically supported. I have less issue with plant cross breeding, as many of the most important foods we consume and cultivate are creations of selective and cross breeding (corn is a good example), but am still nervous about it (GMO crops, anyone?). Crossbred animals are subject to the junk and bad DNA of both their parents' species; this is why so many engineered animals like ligers and tigons have brittle bones or other deformities.
Ultimately, I come down on the side of no crossbreeding humans and other animals because of animal rights. Animals--even very smart chimps--cannot give their consent. This is the primary basis of so many of our sexually related laws: if consent cannot be given, or if the person giving the consent is not judged to be reasonable/old/smart/sane enough to give their consent, then having sexual relations with them is a crime. It's been recently shown that chimps use a lot of similar hand gestures to humans in the wild, and there's always Koko the gorilla to prove that the great apes can learn basic sign language, even if their vocal chords have not evolved in the same ways as ours to allow for speech. But the innate language and comprehension capabilities of these creatures simply are not on the same level of humans, and I feel it would be exploitative to put them through such testing.
Can't we work on preserving the species we do have, rather than trying to engineer new ones?
Some animals can inter-breed, but does not usualy produce a live offspring.

There have been many experiments to try and interbreed humans and monkeys, some of them conducted by Adolf Hitler. Dogs and cats cannot interbreed, as they are not slightly different, like a horse and a donkey can create a mule, but felines and canines are VERY different, and I would bet everything I own and could borrow that you could not successfully cross the two naturally.

The cells of a cat contain 38 chromosomes; the cells of dogs have 78 chromosomes (by comparison, human beings have 46 chromosomes). Animals with different numbers of chromosomes CANNOT breed - it's simply not possible. For each chromosome of one parent, there must be a matching chromosome of the other; no match, no offspring; end of story. You might as well try breeding a cat with a radish (18 chromosomes)!

It's unnatural to do so and generally not possible, especially through natural means. Did you know that the primitive mammals time there existed an animal that branched the cat and dog as well as dolphin, bear, and racoon breeds? There was an entire study done on it. It was fascinating.

Dose this 28 yr. old have the scientificall evidence that a dog and cat can breed or a monkey and human can! Ask him/her why they think that, and then tell them what you think about the situation.

Whenever you ask a question about what "has been proven" ... always make sure you ask ... ... *BY WHOM*? What is the source? Is it a scientist publishing a paper in a peer-reviewed science journal? Or just some bozo with a degree in "religious education" and a web site? That's really really important. In fact, it is the entire point!

The chromosomes won't match up making it impossible to cross breed between much different species.

If you're sure the person you're talking about is not just pulling your leg, tell her she should bleach her hair so her stupidity will be easy for people to understand.
Also, tell her this: "Well, if what you say is true, I would love to meet your children!"
The woman has drain bamage!
