The earth is at 113 people/sq mi. currently. (44 people/sq km.)

Thats almost as big as a farm community all over the planets surface. Of course the population is denser in cities and nonexistant in some places.

So what should be the limit? How many people do we really need? What is more important, the quality of life or the quantity?
I mean, if we truly are the most intelligent species, why are we slaves to our animal instincts? One moment of pleasure creates a life, about 68 years of detrimental impact on its environment. And 90% of the time the creation of that life is an accident. A life changing 65 year long accident that could have been prevented by a ten second procedure with a $.50 condom.

So how much bigger SHOULD we get?
A race full of highly destructive quick spreading organisms on one location with a limited amound of resources.

There is a big problem here. Not only in that we're so many, but in that humanity, it seems, no longer has the energy to restrain its growth. Responsibility - the SHOULD of your question - has flown off the wheel.

200 years ago it was the eclipse of God: Man became responsible for his fate.

Now we see the eclipse of man: man can no longer control its growth.

In large part, people don't like the answers I give here. I think this is because I draw a hard, complicated line.

However, I think there is potential here in the idea of being born into a new sensability, a new 'global' understanding of how it is to be.

We have lost responsibility, but we have regained innocence.

The world grows and grows. we can't stop birth from happing. When a baby is born i cry tears of joy and sadness. I cry for sadness because this child is coming into a world of deadly weapons and ppl. When we die there goes one less person in the world the question you should ask is are we dying to fast.

We going caring on in our lives then see a little girl or little boy sometime even a adult or two.We stop and stare the go on with our lives. Sometimes the next morning they say they've found someone dead. Then some wonder is that the same person... Without ever knowing they die with guilt.

There should be a limit because if there was the world could come to a end. We die so fast by car plane old or shot. I too worry about the trees and animals, but like us they giving birth to something special a child. And you may ask trees can't give birth! go look at stump if a seedling appears this is show i'm right. If not go buy a tree and plant to tell i was right you were wrong!

uhm, u've kinda changed from are we growing to fast, to are we having to many unplanned pregnancies? i mean, u can't just limit children. china does, communist and all, and that's basically taking someone's freedom away from them. there's balance to the world, and before there are too many people, we'll have a war, or an outbreak of disease, that drops our population. that sounds mean, but it's that kind of stuff that keeps too many humans from being around. and even if there were, the lack of resources themselves would kill the weaker part of our species. it's like darwin's theory of evolution. the stronger, more adaptive of the species survives. it's kinda odd to think of humans like that, but the stronger survives, while the weak won't. at a certain point, if the population ever got that big, natural order would take over

With shampoo, more isn't always better, so just use enough to clean and condition your hair, and do this every day. The best way to grow your hair is to treat it well. Do not put anything in it. I mean nothing at all. Just use shampoo and conditioner and then brush it. Secondly, you need to get your split ends trimmed every few months. Split ends will stop your hair from being able to grow. When you trim your split ends, your hair will grow longer faster.

We'll hit our cap eventually, and then, sadly, it will be survival of the fittest/ smartest/ whatever. However, I think the problem is not so much running out of space (the population of the earth could fit in Texas with the same amount of room New Yorkers have) as it is running out of resources. And we're progressing so quickly technologically that I believe that day is far far away.

There should be a 4 child limit on all families. Chinas limit is 2 I think and its working well for them. the families with 10+ kids are pathetic.

There is one population that routinely peaks and crashes. Rats. When rats get too many, they become antisocial, kill their young and become subject to diseases. Any of this sound familar? Our animal nature will emerge and we will destroy the surplus one way or another.
